About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To do a Phillius Fogg and see the whole world

ABOUT ME

Hey I'm Darran. Basically I'm out for a good time.

I love to travel and meet new people. I have been described as a social bear meaning I will talk to literally anyone who will listen and love arguing the toss for the fun of it.

I respect peoples opinions. I am a journalist by nature so I have somethijng to say about most things. That said im fairly easy going and essentially harmless.

Love to drink and smoke....preferably at once. Good music in a good venue with cool people makes me the happiest of all. Im not really fussy about music in terms of generes, If I liike what i hear i dont care if its "cool" or not.

PHILOSOPHY

I belive in having a good time while I can. I don't think I'm the kind of person who could live a life without possesions for ever. One day I will probably want the house the car etc etc but for now I'm enjoying life and enjoying becoming indipendant.

I have no idea who I will become in the future but I do know that right now I want to see places and meet people and have stories to tell so that when I do settle down I can play those memories back like a movie in my head and remember when I was a tear away youth.....or some other crap to that effect.

Oh and I think I am quite karmic person. I hate all forms of descrimination particularly posstive descrimination and at the same time think everything is fair game for the purposes of humor as long as the intentions are obvious.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I have only been hosted a couple of times but I never have a problem opening my doors for a weary traveller if their profile checks out. Quite karmic on that subject.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been to some of the coolest places in the world and met even cooler people thanks to Couchsurfing. I met one of my best friends in the world in Sydney after getting locked out in Gelebe at 6am, looked in awe at the majesty of Prague castle with an amazing guide, partied for 48 hours straight in Kreuzberg Berlin with a whole flat full of crazy people (you know who you are), and even randomly found a little piece of Cuba in the center or Krakow with my best friend and the most amazing hosts you could ever meet.

I've hosted a fair bit too, but those are stories for my guests to tell (and there are quite a few of them too!)

Interests

I love music. I lean towards rock like led zep, queen, QOTSA eagles of death metal etc but I will listen to anything. If im drunk it all sounds good anyway.

I am a football freak....seriously its scary. Die hard Manchester United fan so please don't hold it against me. LOL

Love UFC and boxing they are great "beer" tv.

Food is one of my great passions. Apart from meeting new people i would say it is my favorite thing about visiting new countries and I actually think national cusine is a good indicator of culture and history.

Music, Movies, and Books

George Orwell is my favorite adult Author by far. I understand that his books are morbid but they are culturaly relevant in ways that are down right scary at times. His works must be taught in schools.

Roald Dahl is another amazing author, JK Rowling isnt fit to lace his boots in the feild of edgy childrens literature. His adult works are also inspired and sadly seldom mentioned.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I have done is find a V.I.P pass on the floor and blag myelf a 10 minute DJ set at Sziget festival which is in Hungary and one of the biggest festivals in europe.... also there was unlimited beer and cigaretts there for artists.....BONUS!
