ABOUT ME

I like lots of things like music, books, traveling, movies, outdoors… I try to be always open-minded for new things and found that traveling and living in different countries has greatly expanded my worldview.

I traveled quite a bit and got the travel disease (bacillus travelus) that always pulls you back on the road. It is something that will probably never go away (I hope). At the moment however I have other priorities in life and don't know yet when I'll go again on a big adventure.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have been surfing somewhat, hosted once. I hope to host more in the future once I have the means. I also went to several CS meetings and met great people there.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films or favorite directors: Comedy, especially British, science fiction, horror (the real horror, not splatter!), Woody Allen… Also movies by people like Wenders, Lynch, Jarmusch, Fassbinder, Kubrick... also Easy Rider! I also like to watch brainless entertainment (e.g. with Schwarzenegger and his funny lines).

Literature: Dostoevsky, Tolstoi and the other Russians, "Travel" literature (Naipaul, Bouvier, Chatwin, Theroux...), Conrad, Kerouac, Maalouf, Saint-Exupéry, Nobokov. Sci fi is also good, especially set in dystopian worlds.

Music: Everything depending on situation and mood, but never metal and techno.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mind-boggling natural beauty, exciting new cultures, interesting people, the value of simplicity, distancing myself from petty worries and myself, empathy, love, anger, (political) violence (not amazing, but important), jumping of waterfalls, climbing mountains, racing sharks… Realizing you're a part of the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could learn a lot of things that I don't even know I could learn. I don't know about teaching, surely some kind of wisdom ;). Learning together is still the best kind of teaching.
