ABOUT ME
Open-minded minded, hard-working, adaptable, very positive, loyal, adventurous and kind. I have been travelling since 1985 when I moved to Dorset in the UK from South Africa as a child. Independently since 2001, when I left home at the age of 17. The more I travel the more I realise how little I really know about our planet earth and the people, plants, sea creatures and animals that live here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been involved in the hostel business and very often enjoy and prefer staying in the incredible and unique hostels the world has to offer. This also supports people's livelihoods and the travel industry. I am always open to meeting up with fellow couchsurfers even if I'm staying in a hostel or hotel anywhere on the planet.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
- I found the CS movement to be a real blessing when I lived in Montreal in 2008. There was a very strong CS community in this beautiful city. It was during the early CS days.
- I have hosted CS's when I lived in Joburg and have had very few CS's in the Baviaanskloof due to its remoteness. 4x4 vehicles are needed to traverse the Baviaanskloof valley.
- I travelled to Cancun, Mexico in 2009 and helped plan Hostel Ka'beh with my friend David. In Mayan it means " the day after tomorrow".
- I am a firm believer in slow travel and engaging with local culture and its people. I admire tortoises so move slowly most of times. There is a Chinese proverb that goes something like this "Rush rush and you will end up going slow slow!"

I am a curious person. I've always enjoyed learning more about the planet we live on and the kaleidoscope of people who have made a great difference to the crazy world we all live in.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is everything - I am a lover of sound and rhythm - not noise. I love to dance!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelled from Kigali to Jerusalem overland in 2015-2016.
I did not own a cell phone or have high-speed internet for the first three years that I lived on the farm in South Africa. I survived off dialup at 8-16mbps 👍 (2010-2013)
Teach, Learn, Share
My home is not only a place where I sleep. My home is also a place where I stand.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love sharing so very open to sharing my life with all you like-minded CS Hosts:
