About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel, make music and live life

ABOUT ME

I guess if I had to describe myself I wouldn't get too far without mentioning that I've been a musician for most of my life and it's a huge part of who I am. My main instruments are upright bass and electric bass, but recently I've been working on my own project called Split Screens (splitscreens.bandcamp.com). In that band I sing and play guitar and lap steel.

As far as personality I'm very laid back, respectful and in general, low maintenance.

PHILOSOPHY

I think one of the main things in life that I've been thinking about recently is that sometimes it's really necessary to quiet ones thoughts from time to time. A lot of people (I'm definitely including myself here) have a hard time doing this, but if you're constantly stressing out about things, you aren't really living your life to it's fullest potential.

Right now I'm really into new experiences and situations, that's why I'm into this whole CS thing. I think fresh, new things make you feel alive because it forces you to live in the moment and not to succumb to any numb complacency. At the same time though, there is the same potential for beauty in tradition, so I think it's important to balance things and just enjoy life and everything that comes with it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I originally got interested in couchsurfing as a way to meet new people and in particular help out and host fellow musicians that are touring in my area.

In April of 2009 I traveled for a month in Western Europe and had an amazing experience surfing peoples couches.

These days I plan to tour with my band from time to time and would love to find fellow people that would be gracious enough to let a band stay at their place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few people in Cambridge, MA and did some extensive surfing during my trip to Europe this past April.

Interests

-I love above all to play and listen to music
-I like a good pint of beer when the mood strikes, I love taverns and pubs in particular
-Food of all kinds, italian/sushi/mexican/thai/burgers etc.
-Going to concerts and watching big screen movies
hmmm...I never wrote down my interests before, I guess when you simplify everything all I have is food, drink and art...good enough for me

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Looking back actually, the month long solo trip around Europe was a amazing experience and couldn't have happened without couchsurfing.

When I was 16 my two brothers and I camped in Sedona Arizona and randomly stumbled upon this natural cave under this small waterfall...it was raining that day and totally dry under the rock. We noticed that there was reallllly old writing/cave drawings and it quickly dawned on us that people had been taking shelter here for a very long time. That was pretty amazing getting to camp there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have taught bass in the past (electric and upright) and can also give some casual guitar and piano lessons as well.

As far as learning, I think I learn a lot from just talking with people that are from different cultures and countries, and I hope they would learn something from me too. I'm fascinated by taking in different perspectives, I think it's really important and helps keep an open mind about things.
