About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Work to save. Save to travel. And in the mean time: Eat, Drink and be Merry!

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Vancouver. Despite my love for this city, I enjoy every second I'm away from it while travelling.

I'm pretty easy going - if you want to be independent and just crash on my couch after a long day of sightseeing in Vancouver, that's cool.

Alternatively, if you want to meet all of my friends, have some beers at a favourite cheap pub of ours, and do all that sort of "local" stuff, I could be up for that too, depending on funds!

I work with new immigrants to Canada, and I have also traveled fairly extensively, so I'm very comfortable speaking with people of all cultures.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm no hedonist, but I live with the fundamental goal of having fun. So far, it's worked out pretty well. I am a very, very lucky person.

I realize not everyone in this world is nearly as lucky as I am, nor has the same opportunity in life. Like they say in spider man, with great power comes great responsibility. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am happy to say that so far, I have only had positive experiences. CouchSurfing is a win-win situation for the host and the surfer. Everyone is happy to participate - all that matters is that there is flexibility.

In my recent trips to Europe, I saved a LOT of money with couchsurfing, and met some people that really impacted my experiences while there. I know the importance of a good host, and more importantly, my time away has made me want to become a better host myself. No shit!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have realized over the years that I am a very bad critic. I like just about everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen lots. The first that comes to mind is zooming down the river between Laos and Thailand. We were on a tiny, tiny little boat with an engine that took up half of the room. I had no sleep the night before, so I kept on dozing off -- only to have the girl behind me smack me everytime. Turns out, if I had leaned too far to one side, I would have capsized it! Lesson learned. Get some rest before going on an insane river boat.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a host, I have found that little things make a big difference. Making your bed in the morning, helping with dishes after dinner, and being flexible on sleeping schedules can turn a great surfer into an amazing one.

As a surfer, I figure my hosts would appreciate the same. :)
