About Me

CURRENT SITUATION

I am working and living in South Korea, about 45 minutes away from Seoul!

ABOUT ME

Ok, first off, my name is Oisin but I changed my username so people can pronounce the word!
Apperantly Oisin is a bit of a toughy for non-irish people

I first saw couchsurfing on TV about 9 years ago and I have been dying to get surfing since. I've couchsurfed here in Ireland and I have couchsurfed my way across america too, following route 66 from Chicago to LA.

Here is my photography if anybody is interested:

Three years ago I moved to Chicago. A very unnerving experience to leave all my friends and my home, but absholutely necessary!I had a fantastic time over there and theCS community was great.

I came back to Ireland after Chicago and was unhappy... SO after 10 months I packed my bags and moved to Korea and I have just completed one year here and am about to do another one.

I work as a teacher, tour guide and photographer here... I love it.

Here is where I live in Seoul and the distance to other areas from my place:

If you want to surf with me, you need to send me a personal message in your request! At the very least just reference something on my profile so I know you had a look at my profile.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Thanks to couchsurfing I have met people I would never have met otherwise. Instead of staying in a motel/hotel/hostel with other tourists I have had the chance to meet people who have lived and worked in these places all their lives. You get to actually experience the lifeblood of a city/culture/people. It is wonderful. I have had some great conversations with people and had such fun thanks to couchsurfing.

In Chicago I arrived on a doorstep, jetlagged and unsure. It was my first time couchsurfing on my own. I was let into a home and with it came beautiful friendships and a whole new life. I ended up living in that house and from there we continued to host surfers from all over the world. It was a wonderful time.

OPINION OF COUCHSURFING:
I am a little saddened to see how the site changed formats over the past years to being more profit driven. But it is 2015, and I am back to see for myself if the couchsurfing spirit is alive and well in the world

Interests

Music, I play harmonica and guitar.

I also love photography and in Korea my photography has improved so much.
I also LOVE the outdoors, and whenever I can I will try and spend a day climbing and camping.
Climbing and biking are two passions I would love to develop as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best experience of my life to date was the road trip I did across america with friends five years ago. The people we met were wonderful and friendly and it really changed my outlook on life when I came home.

great wall of china was pretty impressive

I went streaking with a bunch of surfers in Waterford a couple of years ago....GREAT CRAIC!

Another amazing thing which I have participated in was go to a Amnesty conflict resolution camp in Ireland where i experienced people from very different cultures, Northern ireland, Palestine, Israel and Belgium. wonderful people!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to throw a frisbee in five different ways.

I really want to learn guitar better.... I'm still very new to it. I can teach basic saxophone and lots of harmonica songs
