ABOUT ME

Lethargic, vague, peaceful, foul mouth, itchy feet, all ears.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've only ever hosted, and sadly not for a while.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's been great, I love hosting people whether they come through CS or not but still never surfed after a good couple of years on the site.

Haven't formally hosted in a while 'cos I've been living in places with many long-term, non-CS surfers and limited space. Now I'm living in a place owned by by employers so hosting's strictly a no-go.

Interests

I like travelling of course, especially outside of Europe. I like a good drink, dancing to loud electronic music and talking shit into the small hours.

I'm a lapsed activist, and very interested in social issues and politics.

Something of a dabbler, I've done bits of hitching, hiking, writing, and promoting. I've taught, studied and had jobs in places ranging from hardware stores and restaurants to charities and newspapers.

To chill, I like games, any game really, but especially Chess, Risk and Cards -- not to say I'm any good at them though.

I love and miss my bike.

Music, Movies, and Books

I used to care a lot about music, and at different times I've been well into: Dubstep, Drum n Bass, Breaks, Reggae, Folk, Hip-Hop, Psytrance, Punk and Metal (amongst other things). I've been ruined lately though, and will quite happily listen to any old crap.

With books, whatever's lying around. I'm getting back into reading in a big way right now and try to have one on the go at all times. Well up for trading. The last two books I read were "In Arabian Nights: A Caravan of Moroccan Dreams" by Tahir Shar, and "An Invitation to a Beheading" by Nabakov. I really didn't like the latter and kinda gave up, Nabakov's such a tosser.

Don't actually watch much in the way of films, but generally like indie or foreign-language stuff. I worked in a cinema for a while and in doing so developed a healthy dislike of all things Hollywood.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've taught English a few times, though I ain't much of a teacher. If you're learning and want me to go through some of your work with you though, no problem.

The only thing I'd feel that comfortable teaching would be NGO stuff like grant-writing and reporting. Not exactly thrilling I admit, but useful to some.

I'm definitely up for learning the basics of the language of whatever country I'm in.

Countries I’ve Visited

Germany, Pakistan, Spain, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In
