About Me

I'm an American writer living abroad since 2008 (mostly Europe and Asia). I travel for good booze, great food, and extraordinary stories. When not living out of a suitcase or stuffing my face you can usually find me working in media, behind a bar, or playing Gaelic football.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To make the world a little smaller, and a little friendlier.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love alt-rock/Brit rock. Classical and Calvin Harris when I need to work. And a well-executed cover, always.

I don't watch many movies but I enjoy a well-played comedy: 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Brooklyn 99, The Office, etc.

Favorite book of all time: The Princess Bride. I can read it over and over and over and it will enthrall me every time. These days trying to read more memoirs and non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travels around China- rafting down the Yellow River, riding an ostrich in Inner Mongolia, going to the North Korean border, seeing the Ice Festival in Harbin

Crashing a military barracks in Galway then sneaking out the window before sunrise

Learning Gaelic football in China - led to me playing in two All-China games, meeting some amazing people, and a fractured foot

The Gili Islands and Fiji. Absolutely stunning islands, and definitely worth the trek.

The view over Singapore from the Marina Bay Sands Infinity Pool is stunning. My last night in Singapore, my flatmates and I snuck up there, snuck in a bottle of champagne, and had a baller night.

Covering the Olympics in London and Sochi! Also that time I got sent to Azerbaijan for a month for a FIFA event.

Any number of ridiculous escapades in Paris, including meeting the Irish president at the embassy, having a private breakfast at the Pompidou, living on Ile St Louis.

Traveling the world as a professional Snapchatter and getting recognized by strangers on the street in different cities.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share a number of travel tales or tips from a decade around the world -- especially if it involves food/drink, or solo female travel.
