About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to travel when possible

ABOUT ME

A life loving guy who enjoys exploring the nooks and crannies around me. Currently a graduate student, I like to get out when I can, see a museum, catch a show, a hockey game, or enjoy unique foods/drinks. People describe me as flexible, easy-going, independent and insightful.

I'm in the field of higher education so I really enjoy working with students and working with them to create the best experiences they can for themselves.

When traveling, I rarely have much of a plan, just the goal to exhaust all areas around me.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others like they want to be treated.

Listen first..then learn.

"It's a great day for a great day." I try to wake up each day with this mantra.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer my couch and like to surf!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The couchsurfing program is an amazing initiative. All of my experience have been most enjoyable. It has allowed me to become more comfortable with traveling independently and has given me a chance to connect on a closer level to places and people.

Interests

I've been creating art all my life so painting, drawing, photography or catching an interesting exhibit or show is right up my alley.

live music, camping, hiking, nature, being in the water, hockey, running, volunteering.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a pretty avid movie watcher. Some of my all time favorites include The Great Escape, All the Presidents Men, Cool Hand Luke, Slap Shot, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, to get perspective. Categorically, I like zombie & horror flicks, westerns, and when traveling, like to explore cinema from that country.

A mix of many eras and genres. From Passion Pit, Phoenix, Ryan Adams, Mike Snowe, Rush, Common, Ben Folds or Drive-By Truckers, to motown classics, Otis Redding, Smoky Robinson, or anything that makes me feel like I'm in the 80's.

While textbooks may be the norm now, Kerouac, Vonnegut, McCarthy, King, Emerson, and Muir are in heavy rotation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've hiked through the beautifully diverse New Mexico with close friends and family.

I had an up close encounter with a sea turtle in Australia. It was a heavenly sight.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could probably educate you on some art history type items, artists, their backgrounds, and technique. Or help improve your art skills.

I really enjoy hearing about other people's educational experiences because it helps me understand different types of students that I can take back in use in my own field.
