About Me

Hello, I am Rosanna, formerly known as Rosi, but as I got older, I tend to use my full name more often. I consider myself a cheerful and easygoing person with a positive attitude and a vivid lifestyle. However, I recognize that my observant nature often gives off a calm impression to others.
Curiousness is both my strength and my weakness. I am interested in a wide variety of things, but I also tend to lose focus sometimes.
My career is twofold: In the summer, I work as a Script Supervisor in the film industry, and in the Winter, I study Philosophy and Economics.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After signing up, I started joining local gatherings, and I was amazed at how many welcoming and open-minded people I met. These experiences encouraged me to actually start surfing couches. In my view, this is the best way of travelling, getting to know the culture through locals, and meeting great people.
Running from one attraction to another, eating out in a restaurant recommended by a tourist guide and then returning to your internationally standardised hotel room is not how I want to explore new places.

Interests

Philosophy: I did my Bachelor's in Philosophy, and I still read a lot of philosophical texts and books. I care about not only the big questions like existence or free will, but I am also a reflective person who rethinks everyday things.

Languages: I speak German, English, and Spanish, very basic French, and some Dutch and Arabic. (Update March 2024: I just started learning Italian). I am eager to improve each of them and learn other languages as well. I still want to learn a Slavic language, but I cannot decide which one. In May 2024, I plan to join the Polyglot gathering in Prague.

Movies: I have a professional interest in movies but I also simply enjoy watching them. Actually, rather at home than in the cinema.

Theater: I prefer to go to the Theater than to the movies. I am fascinated by the fact that the play happens in this very moment and then sort of ceases to exist. I like “classic Theater” and Improvisation. Now and then, I take acting classes myself.

Sports: I regularly go to the gym and vary with swimming, cycling, dancing, etc. Every once in a while, I play Tennis, go ice skating, or try something new. Recently, I started a Jiu-Jitsu course. I also enjoy looong walks. One day, I would like to participate in a Mammutmarsch.

Travel: This is why I am here :)

Drinks: Shall I confess in public?! I guess for an honest introduction of myself I should mention that I occasionally enjoy wine or beer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: My music taste is quite mainstream, from catchy pop songs to heavy metal. I like bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Rammstein, Billy Talent, and Evanescence, but I am also the first one to sing along with ABBA or dance to Despacito. I value music most when I am really in the mood, in everyday life I listen to podcasts and audiobooks more often.

Movies: I watch all kinds of movies which frequently reminds me that I am a fan of classic storytelling. XXXX not so much of movies that start at some point and eventually end without anything happening. My favourites: The Dark Knight, Moulin Rouge, In Bruges, Anonymous, Poulet au prume, Das Leben der Anderen, The Ordinaries, Old Boy.

Books: My favourite books are Andreas Eschbach-NSA and Michael Ende-The never-ending story. I mainly read nonfiction, though, but I frequently listen to audiobooks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Certainly quitting my fulltime job and going abroad for a year.

Teach, Learn, Share

When it comes to languages, we can make a tandem for conversation. I enrolled in a course called "Deutsch als Fremdsprache," so I can also help you with German grammar and its peculiarities.

Activities: Do you want to go hiking? Show me how to shoot with a bow and arrow? Watch an ice hockey game? Play a game? Just hang out and drink tea? I am in!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Apart from my time and my home, I can share my experience, my cooking skills, and my interests with you.

As I am offering to give my time, I am also asking you to take a moment, read my profile first and then write a personal message. Using copy-paste messages and just inserting my name is not enough.
