About Me

CURRENT MISSION

As you maybe know the answer to life, universe and all the rest is 42. But what the hell was the question? I'll try to find out!

ABOUT ME

In the past I traveld around much more than today. Now I've settled down and have a family and a daughter, so traveling is not that important now. We (Eva and me) are a friendly and openminded couple and everybody will be happy to be our guest.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't worry - be happy! Think global - act local. Always look at the bright side of life!

“I do not believe making money in order to consume goods is mankind’s sole
purpose on this planet. If you’re wondering what I believe our purpose on this
planet is, I’ll give you a hint…it has to do with creating and sharing”
Bill Hicks. 1961 - 1994

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard from this project in the radio and my first thought was, well that's something I always wanted to have, when I was traveling around. That's why I went immediatly to my computer to take part in this project. Our flat is not that big, but I have also a studio where people can sleep. We are strict against smoking and drugs in general. So if that's something important for you please don't contact us. Also when you have a dog or other pet with you, that's not possible in our flat.

When I have time I can show you around, or we can cook and have a meal together.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Now we have hosted already many different people from different countries, but what they all have in common we enjoyed the time they spent with us. Being a host is like traveling without moving, we get a lot of impressions from our guests from different places of the world. That's great!
Here are some advices if you want to visit us: Please make your plans as early as possible at least one week better ten days before, if you want to come. Last months we had many requests like "I'm coming to Vienna today can you host me....." Well I'm very spontaneous, but that just shows me that you didn't deal much about visiting us. Don't change us with a gratis youth hostel.
Write some reasons why you want to visit us, for example some interests that fit with ours - that makes it easier for us to decide. Couchsurfing is not about how do I get some free sleeping place, but about some exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences.
Our experience as guests is not too big till now, but I tried to surf in several destinations. All the people who hosted us were great and a very good experience.

When I was searching for a couch I had the experience that many people even didn't open the mails I wrote. Why do people join this project and then do not take part in it? That's a waste of time for all those who are looking for a couch and it's not polite too. These people should better delete their profiles and leave this project, because they steal the time of serious members.

Interests

I studied biology so that's a field I'm very interested in also science in general. Another thing is alternative architecture and alternative energy supply. Gardening and making crafts are hobbies we( that's my lifemate Eva and I) enjoy very much. We make ceramics, felt, glassbeads, metallworks and a lot more. Photography is also something nice. I prefer bicycle when I'm traveling, for me that's the perfect way to go around. I have also an original highwheel bicycle from the 19th century.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen and done so many amazing things in my life. When you have eyes to see you don't have to make a long trip to find the wonders of this world. They are waiting just around the corner.

Teach, Learn, Share

As I wrote above I know a lot about different crafts. Welding, felt making, ceramics, tiffany glasswork and a lot more. I also built a house with a grass roof on the top. I sometimes make courses for welding and glassbeads.
