About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Back home in Maine after being a nomadic farmer out west for two years. Learning to appreciate the beauty of my own backwoods.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in southern Maine, and spent most of my life in the Northeast, going to school. I spent a few years living and traveling out west, learning how to grow food on small-scale organic farms, mostly in northern California and southern Utah, an experience that radically changed my life. I've now returned to Maine and am living in a little camper on my family's land, learning how to start a homestead from the ground up.

PHILOSOPHY

"Be the change you wish to see in the world." Yes, I know, its one of those overused Gandhi quotes. But while its overused in speech, I feel its underused in practice. I try to live by it instead of just buying the bumpersticker.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

With a new kiddo in the house, we can't really host comfortably right now, but hope to someday. Mostly used CS to travel the US and Canada.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed one house up in Burlington, VT with a friend and I was hooked! Never again will I pay for a hotel room!

Been all over the U.S. couchsurfing. Its unequivocally the best way to see the country.

Interests

I'm on of those permaculture freaks, and can talk for hours about perennial plants and wild edibles. I love homemade and handmande things, low-tech solutions, and fermenting stuff in jars. Now I'm getting into medicinal plants and am considering a clinical herbalist training course in VT. I play guitar and sing and love hearing other people make music, too. I help my partner put on DIY house shows in Brunswick. I'm also highly addicted to books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Everything is see and do is amazing. But probably at the top of my list is hiking in Capitol Reed State Park in southern Utah. The most gorgeous desert scenery one could ever ask for.
