About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel the world and try to make it better beginning by myself

ABOUT ME / US

Hey,

we are Julian (German) & Ginia (Hong Konger) and we recently moved to Augsburg. Ginia is a Graphic Designer and I work for a Distribution Grid Provider in Augsburg. So we are kind of new here and looking forward to get to know some friendly people in our new home town Augsburg. We love of course traveling, going into the nature, getting to know people from all around the world, watching a movie in the cinema or having a drink in a nice café. So just drop us a line if you would like to get to know one or both of us ;).

- GINIA -

A graphic designer who grew up in the bustling metropolis of Hong Kong with younger sister and brother. After moving with Julian all around Germany it's time to settle down a bit here in Augsburg but keep moving around the world in our work-free times of course ;)

This is the link to my Couchsurfing profile but it hasn't been updated for quite a while as we actually switched to solely use Julian's profile.

- JULIAN -

I am who I am and I like to be who I am. I am a calm person and I like to listen. I am passionate about dreams I want to achieve in life and I love to meet interesting people & having a good time in good company. At the moment I am wandering not knowing where I am going but certain of where I want to end up. To be continued...I grew up in Germany with my 2 brothers and my sister.

I left Germany in August 2008 and started to do social work with children in Bethlehem (Occupied Palestinian Territory). I ended up fundraising, writing and organizing my own projects and having a great time working with Palestinian kids and teaching them some basic English.

I stayed for 15 month in the Middle East before I went spontanous to Australia. I work & holidayed in Australia for 14 month with a short break (2 weeks Timor Leste - rode my bicycle from the capital to the East tip - great country + great people).

After Australia I spent a few month traveling in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos and after a short time in China I got to know my Ginia in Hong Kong. I found a job as English teacher and again enjoyed very much to work with the local kids. I stayed around a year and in April 2012 I decided to get back to Germany but not without a detour.

I flew together with Ginia to Cairo and we had a great trip in Egypt. Hitchhiked through the Sinai ending up in Israel/Palestine. It was great to get back to a place where I lived before, meeting friends and neighbors again. After we flew to Greece spending great times with couchsurfers enjoying the Islands and the Mainland as well. Continuing by ferry to South Italy and spending some time on Sicilly, I finally got back to Germany in Summer 2012.

From 2012 till 2019 I studied mechanical engineering (bachelor) and green energy (master). Always traveling during the semester breaks of course.

Traveled to Thailand and Malaysia in my summer break 2014, diving 30m deep to complete my AOW certificate and climbing spontaneous and unprepared 4095m high Mt. Kinabalu in diving boots, shorts and t-shirt…and yes it was pretty cold and windy when we got up there for sunrise!

Back to Thailand in 2015 for university. Completed my 6 month internship at Western Digital, got to know many great colleagues and once more enjoyed the nature the country has to offer.

I travel light as I think it is important to leave as many things behind as possible. Only this way you can figure out how few material stuff you actually need. I like to meet local people everywhere I go as I think that is the way you get to know a "country" best. It is people I meet that are always my best memories of a country I traveled to.

PHILOSOPHY

I have to steal a bit from here and there but I just combine and make it mine.

Ever Tried. Ever Failed No Matter. Try Again Fail Again Fail Better. (Samuel Beckett)

Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time. (Steven Wright)

A mistake is simply another way of doing things. (Katharine Graham)

Fait de ta vie un rêve, et de ton rêve une réalité. (Saint Exupery)
