About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make crossing the borders of countries an easier and quicker task, for myself and others!
ABOUT ME
I'm a scholar of Indian languages and culture, but, rather than research, am doing more practical things nowadays - translations, editing, teaching...
Have been working as a lecturer for quite some time, but deep in my heart I wish to study more than to teach. Was teaching in Moscow State University for several years, sharing my knowledge of Hindi and Indian culture with younger folks. Now, along with some academic goals, am trying to adopt the philosophy of "take-it-easy" life (alas, both don't go together quite well :-)
Spend quite a lot of time away from Moscow now; wishing to become less and less 'one-nation-oriented' and more and more 'multi-nation-oriented' person. Not a globe-trotter yet, but hoping to become one. Although, I did travel quite for some time over the European part of Russia, especially in the Russian North, and in India.
What else? Sharing my life with my partner and enjoying his reciprocity. There's nothing like home, after all!
Distant hopes: to start going to gym or to restart yoga; maybe, would love to take classes in drawing.
PHILOSOPHY
Observe the world and quietly draw your conclusions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I haven't hosted anyone in Moscow due to my frequent travels, but, I guess, I was useful to quite a few people by giving them tips and advice about travels in Russia and India.
However, I can consider the earlier experience of my family as a kind of activity similar to Couchsurfing: my parents' place in Moscow has always been a hub for our friends and acquaintances from all over Russia and abroad-- in this sense I have been exposed to the idea and experience of hosting right from the time of my birth!
Presently, I am staying in Krakow, Poland, and I have already hosted a few people here and showed them around this amazing city.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Giving advice to people through CS-groups; being a reasonable and, I hope, tolerable guest in Switzerland, Germany, Estonia, Spain; organising small trips for CS-contacts in Delhi; participating in CS-related city-tours; being a welcoming host in Krakow.
Interests
Love to learn different things from other people. Am sure, everyone has something to share.
Other interests: classical music, cinema, nature... And tons of books I haven't yet read.
NOT INTERESTED IN: DATING and FLIRTING, PLEASE!

Music, Movies, and Books
In European music: Bach, Wagner, Brahms, Rachmaninov, Schostakovitch (Tchaikovsky not included, sorry).
In Indian music: rather Shubha Mudgal than Lata Mangeshkar (although her early hits are enjoyable)!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seen: a launch of a Soviet satellite over taiga in the Northern Russia (in 1988). Awesome and scary!
Teach, Learn, Share
Languages: can teach you or translate for you from/into Russian and Hindi - professional teacher in both!
Ready to give some advice to those courageous people who decide to travel in Russia.
By now I know transport system in Poland quite well, especially I can give good advice on how to commute between Poland and Germany, first of all - between Krakow and Berlin, am a real expert!
