PHILOSOPHY

So...

I used to have a bunch of quotes from amazing people in this section....

They all still mean the world to me and have shaped who I am in terms of how I feel about the world and my place in it, but....

Really.... some things that I actually think about on a DAILY basis are... just treat people the way you want to be treated.... Seriously, it's so simple, and yet, can still be one of the most challenging things. I'm STILL working on it... Most of us are, aren't we...
Also...love hard. Just love fucking hard, I say. Feel it, show it, and just mean it. Love like this is the only time to do it. Laugh like it's medicine healing unhealed wounds. Dance like you're shaking scorpions off your body. And see beauty in things as if all will go dark in 2 minutes....

These are things I think about every day.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted a couple travelers in spring of '09, happily sharing my/our space before having others open up their space to me.
I spent the summer in Canada, where I surfed in Toronto and met Csers in Kingston, ON, where I was volunteering for a month. My Canadian adventure ended with a 2 week road trip across Canada with mostly CS ambassadors, all of us couchsurfing along the way....it was pretty sweet.
2 of those RV buddies have visited me since, 1 of them with a whole new crew of RVers, 5 of which who cozied up in my old basement!
I'm stoked to host more people as the requests come in...
I'm trying to be more involved in the CS scene here in Portland...I put up a posting once, asking the Portland group who the ambassador/s is/are, but never got a direct reply. I'm really wanting to be more involved but have a habit of putting too much on my plate and getting burned out so....we'll see what happens....

Hmmm...so many interests, trying to list them is like a stimulated mental overload....but here goes...
people, animals, healthy food, gardening, permaculture, alternative, sustainable building, compost toilets, DIY lifestyle for sure! I want to learn and apply to my life as much as I can!
...hiking, riding my bicycle!!!, running, walking, strolling, skipping, writing, reading, watching amazing films, watching documentaries, music music music! people's experiences and his/herstories, metaphysical cosmic energies and beings, spirituality and the natural healing that can be connected with it, the universe and all its vastness and mysteriousness...I mean really, can you even wrap your head around the infinite VASTNESS and dimensions of our universe?!?! It's mind-blowingly nuts! I love it...
politics...mainly in terms of understanding and battling oppression in its, sadly, myriad of forms...but also then, creating a community of people who dedicate themselves to being non-oppresive, open-minded, big-hearted beings... and yet, having a kick-ass sense of humor and creating a trust that even though a joke might be "offensive" we are all aware, respectful people and don't have to get bent out of shape because someone made a f***ing joke... We can't work together and make it through shit if we can't trust one another and laugh together... Yes, I am on that path as well, and learning learning learning as I go...
