About Me

About you first!

If you would do me a favor and accept or decline my couch surfing offer promptly, then I am able to schedule you to couch surf. If you decline, then the couch surfing opportunity can be offered to others. Thank you!

You should be vaccinated with the booster, I am. If you don't smoke, use cologne, sprays, or aftershave because I'm allergic to those things, then you are welcome to stay at my apartment. Don't worry if you take a shower with warm water and soap once a day you will not smell. A couch surfer that takes a shower at least once a day is the best!

If you stay at my home you should be friendly to all. I'm gay and a nudist, that is I don’t wear clothes at home or at the beach. Otherwise, I’m pretty normal. I'm gay and straight friendly. I prefer to host nudists or guys that would like to try it; I am also happy to host textilers.

If you would like and if we have time, then I can show you around New York City. You should also feel free to do your own thing.

Now about me!

Current Mission
I enjoy traveling around the world, also meeting, hosting and visiting people everywhere and from everywhere.

Broadway Shows, museums and neat neighborhoods are great to see and visit. Camping, canoeing, skinny dipping, visiting the sauna and the beach are terrific pass times. I enjoy cooking, eating and drinking red wine as well as drinking ice cold beer on a hot nude beach.

Philosophy
Enjoy life!

Thank you for reading about me and enjoy your visit to New York City.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

How I Participate In Couchsurfing

I was in a movie for a few minutes about couch surfing; it is called "Couch Connections". It is a very good movie about and Austrian man's journey surfing couches.

I was also mentioned and pictured in a newspaper story regarding CouchSurfing: https://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/01/garden/nudists-open-their-homes-to-budget-minded-travelers.html

I have met visitors for a drink or dinner. Had surfers stay and cooked dinner with them and other friends while we hung out and drank just a little too much red wine.

Couchsurfing Experience

I have hosted surfers from around the world and surfed in Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, Greensboro, Charlotte, Copenhagen, London, Berlin and Abu Dhabi.

Music, Movies, and Books

Plays
Lena Horne in The Lady and Her Music was a one woman show that I saw a very long time ago. My best Broadway experience.
Beautiful. The Carol King Musical is a great show.
War Horse was a great show.

Movies
The Imitation Game-great movie
Sophie's Choice-great movie

Books
Mantle of Command by Nigel Hamilton is about how President Franklin D. Roosevelt ignored the US military experts in the War Department and won the war with brilliant strategy and some good luck. Excellent book.
The Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan and the Forgotten Colony That Shaped America by Russell Shorto
Great book about why New York is fundamentally different from much of the rest of the USA. New Amsterdam was founded by the Dutch West India Company to make money and granted freedom of religion so they could make more money. Some other colonies were begun by religious fanatics demanding conformity to their life styles and beliefs. Some of the prime beliefs of those Christians seems to have been to expel, maim, punish and/or kill those that did believe as they did. So much intolerance and hate in the US and throughout the world is generate by religious people and has been for centuries. Hopefully the future will be better.
Factory Man by Beth Macy about a family saga and the movement of furniture manufacturing from the US east coast to Michigan to North Carolina to China then to Vietnam.
A Fighting Chance by Elizabeth Warren about working hard.
Forcing the Spring by Joe Becker about gay marriage success in the courts
No Ordinary Time by Doris Kerns Goodwin about FDR and Eleanor
Hamilton by Ron Chernow, biography of a great founder of the USA.
Grant by Ron Chernow, biography of a great American President.
I leaned a lot of US history by reading the two books above.
Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline about street children in New York City shipped off to 45 states, Mexico and Canada by people trying to get them a better life. Many children went to towns and farms in the the Midwest United States, the largest number ending up in Indiana from 1853 to early 1900's.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing experience was hiking the Kalalau Trail, along the Napali Coast on Kauai which is one of the beautiful islands in Hawaii. I rode in the London Naked Bike Ride in 2016 and 2018.

Some other pretty amazing things were in 2014 I traveled to Mindo, Quito and the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador for 3 weeks. Miami, the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Raleigh, Greensboro & Charlotte, North Carolina for 3 weeks. Copenhagen for a week with a day in Malmo, Sweden, London for two weeks, Berlin for a week and Croatia for two weeks. Then to Dubai for 3 days, Abu Dhabi for 3 days and India for 16 days.

I was in Berlin and Paris in January 2009. Had a great trip to Bali, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Thailand a few years ago. In the distant past visits I made to Kenya, Egypt, Ireland, England, Italy, Holland and Germany.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are in town long enough, it would be great if you could teach me how to cook a traditional dish from your country. I can show you how to cook something too.
