About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to feel the fullness of being alive

ABOUT ME

I love experiencing the world, particularly beautiful natural areas. I am passionate about environmentalism; sustainability activism has been and will continue to be my life's work. I just completed my undergraduate education in Philosophy. I am traveled the world for a year studying sustainable communities and learned immensely from Earth's landscapes and cultures. You can read about my adventures here: http://sustainablephilosopher.wordpress.com/ I'm now back in the States, learning from and loving the people and land here.

PHILOSOPHY

This is a tough question to ask a philosophy major; I have thought about it so much that I almost don't have one anymore, but rather I have several. Generally, I abide by and advocate for all things conducive to life, biologically and existentially speaking.

Maybe: "Philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways; the point, however, is to change it."
-Karl Marx

Or: "What the 'world' is there for, what 'humanity' is there for is not to concern us for the time being, unless we want to be funny: for there just isn't anything funnier and more cheerful on the world's stage than the presumptuousness of those little worms called man; but do ask what you, the individual, are there for, and if no one else can tell you then just try sometime to justify the meaning of your existence a posteriori, as it were, by setting yourself a purpose, a goal, a 'for this', a lofty and noble 'for this.' And perish in the attempt--I know of no better life's purpose than to perish in attempting the great and impossible."
-Nietzsche

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to host global travelers like myself once I get a place of my own. Until then, I want to be a part of the global vagabond community, having good experiences couch-surfing that I can share with my hostees in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with Hana in Lund, Sweden for three days - an excellent inaugural CouchSurfing experience!

The Plummery in Melbourne, Australia, an urban Permaculture demonstration house, had the kindness of hosting me for two weeks while I took a Permaculture Design Course with Bill Mollison and Geoff Lawton! I enjoyed eating homemade sourdough bread and using composting toilets in an urban environment...

Torsten in Forres, Scotland showed me the hidden secrets of Scotland outside of Findhorn ecovillage.

Helder in Lisbon, Portugal left me the keys to his apartment, where I chilled until he got home and we went to an awesome free concert together!

Looking forward to many more stories of amazing hospitality and unique adventure...
