About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I don't want to be a tree... I want to be its meaning

ABOUT ME

Do find out.

I love more than anything to share food, drink and conversation - the things that keep us going.

PHILOSOPHY

I am trying to eliminate the 'personal' from my philosophy, to get to the truth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and surfed, and enjoyed some events in France and Spain.

Interests

How to live well! How to be kind. How to slow down (I seem to like talking about this while really speeding up).

Living sustainably and locally, in communities, living in and with nature instead of against it and controlling it.

Tradition and what it means... how [some of us] have lost it... and how then to deal with the modern.

Sunny days near water.

I study continental philosophy and philosophy of religion.

Things well made, especially: craft beer, wine, cocktails, food, furniture, gardens.

Music, Movies, and Books

Everything sincere, curious, and reflective.

I want to be IN IT.

Mostly the classics of literature, poetry and philosophy... Trying to catch up.

David Adams Richards, T.S. Eliot, Celtic music, Hegel, Heidegger, Plotinus, Michel Henry, Virginia Wolfe, Motown, Bob Dylan,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked onto the terrace overlooking the Alhambra after sleeping in a cool cave in Granada.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach many stringed instruments, mostly the guitar.

I can also teach some things about food, wine, and especially craft beer.

I also know a lot about the history of philosophy and theology. It has come to my attention that for many, this is not an enjoyable topic of conversation.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Switzerland, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
