ABOUT ME

Hi! It looked like time to update my profile:
I'm writing this while sitting in a cafe in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa, in Rio de Janeiro. I've been living in Rio for 8 months now and i will be here for another 3. I arrived in South America in February 2013 in Cuzco Peru and was there for almost 5 months. I enjoyed Cuzco but I soon realized that I am not cut out for that kind of cold weather. The warmth of Rio suits me better, even though the heat can wear me out some days. I love the beach and being near the ocean!
I have found that from all my travels, Brazilians are without doubt the kindest and most generous people I ever met. I have been welcomed in many homes and once I return to the U.S. and am settled, I will always have a place for my Brazilian friends to crash. :-)
Since living here I've been teaching yoga and offering therapeutic massage. I would love to offer those things to anyone else who would like to host me for the remainder of my stay.

Yoga, meditation, dancing, travel, hiking, art and architecture, music, painting, drumming, discovering the best dessert a city has to offer, learning other languages, discussing dreams - I have bizarre ones and remember the majority of them, this whole big beautiful world...

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies I like most tend to be comedies and fantasy like Lord of the Rings. I like many different kinds of music. All that matters is that it moves me. As for books, I read a lot on non-fiction, books on spirituality, philosophy, different cultures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I pet a crocodile in Ghana. That's about as amazing as I can get. The rest, if not amazing,at the very least is noteworthy...

Witnessed the aurora borealis in Alaska;

Gotten really lost in Seattle;

Laid around like a bum in Hawaii;

Ran around like an ecstatic crazy person in Manhattan during the middle of the night (but what else are you supposed to do);

Had an incomparable and unforgettable New Year’s in Brazil;

Lived in Firenze for a bit and had a spiritual experience when I found the world’s best tiramisu;

Saw Ani Difranco in Germany;

Got food poisoning in London;

Walked in the snow in Scotland;

Nearly had a nervous breakdown at seeing the Acropolis - standing in a place that i had studied and that was so ancient was almost too much for my nervous system;

Got to teach yoga in Ghana – that was just about as wonderful an experience as you can have.

Teach, Learn, Share

The gifts I offer all have to do with healing. For example: massage/body work, yoga, energy healing/cranial sacral balancing. But, i also love to cook and am made very happy when i can cook for others. I also have a little knowledge of natural herbal remedies.
