About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore and enhance the world

ABOUT ME

Adventurous Michigander, fascinated by how things work and how people organize themselves. I'm an architect and historian by training, have always sung or played instruments, and love the endorphin rush and challenge of intense physical activities. Join me for an evening of dancing or cooking and baking sometime.

PHILOSOPHY

I put all of my energy into everything I do.

I think that everyone has an idea of how they would like to live their life and who they would like to become. It is our job to strive towards our own goals and to aid the people around us with their own dreams as much as possible. Live according to your own ideals, regardless of whether the world follows them. We should live so that we are proud of who we are and gain the power to shape our worlds around us.

These is no reason to be ashamed or embarrassed. Act in such a manner that you are proud of all that you do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted a bunch of people in Michigan, try to be active in the weekly meetups and events put on by the CouchSurfing community in Denver, and have surfed in Australia and a few places in the US. I like drawing people together through activities that they wouldn't normally experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I attend local events sponsored by the CS community, host surfers at my apartment, and have surfed and hit up community events when out traveling. I love just hearing of all the different lifestyles and locales that people have found through travel, and enjoy the utter randomness of connections formed through 'Surfing.

Interests

Old buildings, ancient history, singing and vocal harmony, biking and camping and climbing trees, dancing, Anime, science, geography, plants, and a glowing host of other things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - most anything with beautiful voices, layered rhythms, and a rich sound. I'm massively into classical fugues and symphonies, Anime soundtracks, gothic rock, modern reworkings of traditional music such as Scandinavian folk-rock, and increasing amounts of dance club pop.

Books - lots of science fiction and fantasy, with tendrils of interest growing out from there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Canoeing out of a blustery thunderstorm into a giant double rainbow, creating a tunnel of light down the lake in the Minnesota Boundarywaters.

Waking up in the clouds while camping on top of Solitary Mountain in Australia's Jamison Valley.

Feeling the ground resonate with 20 or so voices singing rounds in the bottom of a roofless, abandoned dairy silo, open to the stars and darkness above.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - how to build a sandcastle, singing, random nature trivia. Mostly random stuff.

Learn - dancing, cooking, dreams. I love talking to people about their passions.
