About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To smile daily, and stare in amazement

ABOUT ME

What would my friends say about me? They would say that I am a big bundle of warmth and coziness. That I make any place feel like home and will try my best to always make them smile. When I am not going into OCD controlling mommy mode.
My only rebuttal is that is the nurturer in me. I want everyone to enjoy themselves doing whatever it is. Maybe that is why I cook and bake the way I do. I will bake the most delicious brownies you have ever tasted. Or at least you think that I am a mad genius in the kitchen with a 4 course dinner from nothing and under 35 minutes. (The kitchen is where my control freak comes in, fair warning).
Other than being a control freak in the kitchen the rest of my life is kind of left open. I can be a bit quirky at times, its usually do to lack of sleep. Which is a frequent thing as I do work overnights but hate missing the sun. I can be quiet at times. My job forces me interact with individuals constantly and I work in a rather loud environment so quietness is appreciated.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophies are easy to practice and remember. The first being “Forget regret ,or life is yours to miss” ( Jonathan Larson) The second and most important is to live a life with love, compassion and honesty. If you can at the end of the day go to sleep with a happy heart you have accomplished your goal for the day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

How do I participate? I host as much as humanly possible. I try to participate in the local Couchsurfing community. You can find me at most potlucks with baked goods in tow.

In fact since this recent update I have lost more than half of my references. I have been at this, mostly hosting for 10+ years on two continents. I have hosted close to 1000 individuals since the beginning.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I recently had one of the best experiences since Gelli. In July, my house full of surfers (4) plus those of us that lived here at the time(3) was feeling a bit small due to the crappy weather. After a very impromptu trip to Niagara Falls with two surfers in the pouring rain. We returned home to find one of the surfers cooking dinner for us. She decided to make crepes and did she make them. She set the table with fresh fruits, cheeses, Nutella and everything an anything else you could imagine. She invited us to eat dinner , sharing the food and the days adventures made my house feel so warm and big. It left me with a happy heart and warm memories of those girls.

Interests

I once said that I was going to read the 100 best sellers of the 20th century before I am 30. I have revised that goal to be before I am dead. I am constantly reading, my kindle travels with me always. I do love to bake and would like to bake for you. I enjoy hosting dinner parties when my schedule allows. I also love patio/porch weather. There is nothing better than sitting on a patio with a few friends and some drinks. (This portion sounds like an exact read from Stuff White People Like.) I also love unicorns, hipsters, and flip flops.

Music, Movies, and Books

As I previously said that I love to read. Some of my favorite books from childhood to now are: The Giver, The Joy Luck Club, Love in the Time of Cholera, One Thousand Years of Solitude, Memories of My Melancholy Whore, The Captains Verses, Betty Crocker Cookbook, Sweet Pickles- Elephant Eats the Profits, Peony in Love, The House of the Dead and Poor Folk and The Birth of Venus.
Sitting here editing my profile with my iTunes on shuffle I have listened to college a cappella, Staind, Tiziano Ferro, Coldplay, Jason Mraz, NKTOB , Sugarland and some others. I do have very ecclectic taste in music and I am open to most anything

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have had a very fortunate life so far. I have given birth to an amazing human being. I have given a family the gift of life, by allowing them to be Daddy and Papi. I have moved to China on a whim. While there I was blessed with the friendship of some amazing individuals. I have found Couchsurfing, in it self is amazing. I also have a job that never stops amazing me. There is so much more of this life to live, I am sure this will change soon enough.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love the area that I live in and if I am available I would love to share the knowledge that I have of the region. I can also teach you how to make some killer brownies or cupcakes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Toilet paper!! Honestly, is the best gift a host can ever receive. Outside of a few drinks and great conversation outdoors. I always have arms ready for a hug. Ears ready to listen. A mouth ready to speak when needed.
