ABOUT ME

Hello everyone! We are two long-time friends with a shared passion for art, particularly theatre and cinema. After studying theatre in college, Vanille is now teaching French literature in middle school, reading manuscripts for a publisher, singing in a choir and acting in plays and short films. Julie is interested in writing of all kinds: she studied screenwriting and literary translation and is now a reviser for several publishers from Québec. She volunteers as a film critic for a French cinema magazine, writes screenplays and will translate her first book this year. We met in literary prepa school (also called “khâgne”, heaven knows why…) a few years ago, and remained friends ever since. We created this page in 2009, when we were about to set off for a one-month trip to Norway – which is why we share this profile, although we are not flatmates. Both of us are very fond of travelling, and find couchsurfing an amazing means to meet people from all over the world (and to extend our renown as first-rate cooks). Although we are not currently able to host anybody, we would be delighted to meet for a drink and show you around Paris, should you decide to visit our beautiful city!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We couchsurfed through Norway for a month, and also met some people in Paris to show them around. Vanille was hosted in Sweden and in Avignon (for the theatre festival), and Julie went to Moscow and to several film festivals in France, where she met a few film enthusiast couchsurfers.
