About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To absorb as much of the landscape as possible to positvely shape my personality

ABOUT ME

Hello there. I happen to be named after a geographical characteristic, but don't let that faze you. I'm just a small town boy, not born and raised in South Detroit, but look forward to someday taking a midnight train anywhere. I strive to experience as much culture as I can and am always up for new experiences. Concerts, making new friends, and good cinema are a way of life for me.

PHILOSOPHY

If the moon was made of prime rib, would you eat it?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting when I can, though I've lived in places that don't get too much traffic (Norman, Oklahoma and Chungcheongnamdo, South Korea). I've been fortunate enough to have great hosts in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Castles in Estonia, concerts in London, and seeing Obama in Chicago have all been possible thanks to the cozy cushions and camaraderie that Couchsurfing has brought me. I'm forever grateful for the experiences I've had, and I can't wait to return the favor wherever in the world I may be.

Interests

Laughing,Coffee, traveling, hole in the wall diners, inexpensive food, record stores, used book shops, parks, concerts, the cinema, finding posh clothes for cheap, meeting new people, being emo in socially suitable ways (sports, talking movies, starting book-groups).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

(In order of occurence) Leaving the country for the first time, almost getting arrested by NATO (I merely wanted to get a better look of the headquarters. My friend was the one that took a picture!),
cycling in Paris and Montreal, Swiss hospitality, Italian espresso (St Eustachio behind the Pantheon), Wimbledon, skipping class to fly to Estonia, wearing the Ampelmann, getting on guest lists in New York, hugging Sufjan Stevens, being bad at Tae Kwondo, being so so at yoga, being great at eating.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I could teach you tennis and pour over coffee, but sometimes the best learning comes from seeing how others carry themselves.

Learn: I'd love to learn German or Spanish. If you can teach me to order at a bar, cafe, and/or restaurant, I'd eternally be grateful. Also, I'd love to learn a little bit more about wine and beer. If we can tie foreign language into beer and/or wine then I will have reached some form of nirvana.

Share: Coffee makes the world go 'round. I will always have good coffee with me. If I'm traveling, I may not have my coffee gear, but I'm sure we can find some stones to make a coarse grind for a French press :). Also, I write, but I'm not a writer (I don't take it very seriously). If we develop any trust, then I may share a word or two with you.
