About Me

*** OJO: Con mi trabajo actual tengo viajes imprevistos. Es difícil predecir si voy a tener el couch disponible con mucha anticipación. Mejor escríbeme con un par de días o hasta 2 semanas de anticipación. ***

*** NOTE: With my current job I have a lot of last-minute trips. It's difficult for me to know if my couch will be available far in advance. It's best if you write just a few days or up to 2 weeks in advance. ***

I am not happy if I'm not travelling! I lived in Valencia, Spain for one year on exchange and absoluely loved it there. But what I really loved is that it's so easy to travel around Europe. I went to 16 countries during my exchange year, many by CS. I spent summer 2012 biking through Argentina and Bolivia with a fellow CSer, then spent some time doing sustainable agriculture in Honduras. Now I live in Mexico City.

One of the things that I enjoy most about travel is talking with people I meet about politics and current events to gain a new perspective and see what they have to say about everything. I can talk for hours. I also love doing things outdoors, going to CS meetings and eating. New food is a great part of travel, except when you end up in a hospital in rural Argentina. Actually that's a pretty good story and I'm glad it happened.

Hablo español también. Empecé a estudiarlo cuando tenía 6 años...entonces sé hablo bien y si no sabes inglés, no hay problema! Si estás estudiando inglés, puedo ayudarte si quieres. He enseñado inglés por varios estudiantes.

When I'm not working, I read pithy enthnographies about exploitative American companies ruining Latin America. Or I watch Adventure Time or Archer, or start cooking. There are some good bars in Mexico City and my boyfriend and I frequent them.

PHILOSOPHY

Friends are the best thing in the world. Traveling is good for you. Making friends and traveling at the same time is my favorite way to spend my free time. Share what you have, and take every opportunity.

Also, something I learned from boy scouts: Leave the earth better than you found it.

Don't limit yourself: think BIG!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Going solo for 12 days in Poland and visiting 4 different cities and making countless friends. I learned what it was like to grow up under communism from someone who did it.

Living with my friend Noor and his family for a week in Marrakech and being accepted as part of their family, learning about Islam and making friends with all of his friends.

Hosting 4 surfers at once and for the entire month of May 2010 only having 5 nights where there were no guests. Climbing over the air mattress to get to my closet and racing to get the hot water. Countless meals at our big table with the A-Team and our surfers. Hosting Manuel for a week because he requested 3 days with me and 4 with my roommate hahaha

Biking in Argentina and Bolivia with Eze, who I found on CS and didn't meet until I actually got there. We biked for 2 months and now he's in Mexico. A great friend and an incredible experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing experiences of my life was staying with a family in Maya Centre, Belize. I lived with the family for a week and adapted to the Belizean culture. I was traveling with friends from University and we went to the Cockscomb Jaguar Sancturary and saw a wild Tapir and a Kinkajoo. We also went snorkeling in Punta Gorda, which has the 2nd largest coral reef in the world. Belize is beautiful and I want to go back someday.

Teach, Learn, Share

I LOVE to cook. We can teach each other new recipes. I have a fairly international taste and can also make lots of vegetarian stuff. Also I want to learn your vegetarian recipes.

I like talking about the politics of the EU and Latin America (and the US during elections) so if you have any interest at all good luck getting me to stop talking about it - I will keep you up until 6 am.

He trabajado como maestro de inglés, pues te puedo ayudar con algunas dudas con nuestro idioma complejo.
If you are a beginner in Spanish, I can teach you some of the basics and share my favorite resources on how to learn.
