About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Backpacking several years after university, I got bored of being a tourist. I decided to start teaching English so I could work as I travel. Lo & behold, I found myself a great job in Bangkok, & here I've been ever since. So much for the travelling.

ABOUT ME

When I finished university, I picked-up my backpack intent on doing anything apart from starting a responsible career.

That attitude took me from hitch-hiking around Canada, sleeping in my tent, to travelling all around South America, to working two ski seasons in Canada and the USA, to making my way through South-East Asia and China.

After all of that, I was a bit bored of being nothing but a tourist, so I decided to start teaching English so I could work as I travel.

I got my CELTA and walked straight into a great job in Bangkok, and here I've stayed ever since. The irony being that I wanted to teach English so I could work as I travel, and yet in Bangkok I'm more settled than at any other time in my life.

I'm happy here though, so what's the rush to leave? I won't be here forever. But for now...

PHILOSOPHY

I try and live my life, so that when the day comes, that I'm laying on my death-bed, I want to be able to look back at my life and be happy with what I've done. Happy with how I've lived.

I try and enforce the philosophy that things turn out the best for the people that make the best of the way that things turn out.

Be happy with your situation. Someone else has always got it worse.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed a couple of times, and I regularly attend CSing events in Bangkok. Now that I have my own place, I'm open to hosting when I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's all been positive so far. Hopefully that continues.

Interests

I love to watch sports, and I'm partial to the occasional party.

Before I settled in Bangkok, I loved exercising, and I loved the great outdoors.

Work has kind of taken-over my life of late though, and I don't really find the time for either.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I've read 4 books in my adult life. None of them fiction. I'm just not a book person.

Music: I like lots of music, but I seem to be about five years out of date. I don't ever really hear new music, just what's been sat on my mp3 for the past few years.

Movies: I love a good movie. I try to get to the cinema about once per week in Bangkok. It's good to escape from reality occasionally. 300 would be one of my favourites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
