About Me

CURRENT MISSION

discover ourselves and our country!

ABOUT ME

My wife Jen and I have lived together now for over 3 years. We both met in College while partying hard but have settled down now...at least a little bit. I got my masters in Architecture while she has degrees in Environmental Science and Anthropology and just finished grad school for a Masters in Global Sustainability.

When we traveled Europe and the US we were at a time in our lives where we were sick of the mundane, repetitive lifestyle. We needed something more to live for and dropped everything and traveled. We have now recently purchased an old historic home and our next journey together has begun. We lust for a greater purpose and will go to any length to achieve it. Now a little more about who we are.

We both have great respect for the environment. It is our responsibility to respect and care for it. We love speaking outwardly about issues and are always up for a good discussion about any subject. We both believe strongly in Karma and strongly believe that what goes around comes around. We aren't outwardly religious but strive to be balanced, especially as a whole. We love hitting the town hard but also enjoy a night of nothings. You can read more in our interests.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too damn short to worry about insignificant things. We go through this life trying to predict what will happen next, missing what is happening now. This is not to say we don't care about anything. We have been fortunate to live a fulfilling life so far and because of this we are dedicated to giving back.

Help those who aren't likely to help you in return, and do so even if nobody is watching.

Save the earth...we've only got one, that we know of.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have participated in as many local CS events as we could the last few years and have hosted a number of people. We traveled Europe for 4 months and a road trip around the US for 3 months and had the best time meeting new and old friends along the way. We even got engaged on our road trip while hiking in Maine. We love meeting new people and showing them our city. We have been in this area now for over 11 years and are very familiar with both Tampa and St. Pete. We share the CS experience to as many people as possible, spread the word!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have hosted many people from around the world now and am loving every minute of it. We are really interested in this idea and excited to be involved. I had my first surfing experience finally in June 2010 down in Miami Beach, what a great time. We both finished a 4 month trip to Europe in February 2011 and surfed most of the time.

Interests

We are very interested in travel obviously and have both been blessed with getting to some great places so far. We are also very active with outdoor activities including kayaking, wind surfing, camping, and also hockey. We both love to cook, everynight, and can share some traditional dishes from areas we grew up...gotta love good southern cookin'. We try to experiment as much as we can with different cultures and would love to learn some new techniques from hosts/surfers. We are also really into art, Jen prefers photography, sewing, painting, and sculpture while I really like sketching, watercolors, mixed media, and architecture.

One of the most amazing things I have done so far is completing a large pavilion for the city. As a class of 12 we designed and built a pavilion for a nature preserve. The pavilion uses glue-laminated beams for the cantilevered structure.

Jen had the chance to spend a few weeks in Mexico studying the ecohydrology of the mangroves while at field school. She has visited a number of different sites and can share all her experiences with them.

Teach, Learn, Share

We feel we can teach others to relax, and live an organized life. Life is all about balance.

We can also teach you anything you need to know about home renovation. We have laid tile, drywall, plaster, and flooring. Installed everything in a kitchen, bathroom, and plenty of landscaping.
