ABOUT ME

Bonjour!
I'm French (with a German mother and a Vietnamese dad), and have been living in England (London) for the last 10 years or so, studying there and then working in various jobs (film and photographic commercial library), then a few years in the financial industry. Life in London is fun and good but as I've always wanted to experience Latin America more in depth, I decided to treat myself to a year of travelling in this amaising continent, and, amongst many other things on the learning path, hopefully I'll end up speaking Spanish more fluently at some point... and who knows, I might get some Portuguese in there too!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short given all the things there are to discover and enjoy, hence I try to make the most of it by enjoying even (or especially?)the smallest and simplest things...and I try to be positive and smile!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Inter-cultural exchange and sharing is one of the greatest things in life for me, and it's probably the essence of travelling!In that sense I would love to participate in the CS project by meeting locals of the places I travel to, if possible more in depth by living in their homes for a short while. At the moment I am travelling and hence homeless, but I'd like to return the favour once I am back in a sedentary mode by showing people round my city, with all these little things and details that make a place unique...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am brand new to CS, but have met several good people who made me feel like trying it out! The only other thing I've done that is vaguely similar is Wwoofing on an organic farm in Australia, a fantastic experience of living with a family for a short while in exchange of as few hours work a day.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: old movies but also recent independent cinema, British comedies, European cinema in general for example "The lives of others" , the list is too long!

Music: anything as long as it's good! rock, psychedelic rock, jazz, afro-beat, funk, soul, folk, Brazilian music ...

Books: recently read and really liked the kite runner by Khaled Hosseini; I also like classic French literature, or German (for example Siddharta by Herman Hesse)or English (e.g. Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For instance the last year I took off. I went travelling in Australasia...the impressions, experiences and people met were priceless..during that trip I also went to Vietnam for the first time to meet my Vietnamese relatives in Hanoi, hence the stories from the past told by my dad came alive, and I started understanding more about this culture that has always accompanied me throughout my life without me really knowing it...

Teach, Learn, Share

I like communicating and speak French, English and German fluently, and would be happy to exchange conversation classes for example and learning another language like Portuguese in the process!
