About Me

BRIEFLY:
I love cooking (especially soup), listening to and playing music, playing games, and being silly!

AND MORE...:
I am 33 years old, and I recently completed a Ph.D. in Psychology / Cognitive Science. I just moved to Baltimore in March 2019 to start a postdoctoral fellow position. I research how the mind, vision, and language work!

This summer, my partner Lisa (recently married!) and I will be traveling to Europe for a belated honeymoon in search of adventure!

My partner Lisa and I met at summer camp many years ago. She is a physical therapist, inspired by her many years as a dancer. She has a wonderful spirit and energy, and brings smiles to all who she spends time with. She also has an incredible knack for recreating facial expressions (including those of animals...).

I love making soup and new friends. I have been making beer for 6 years now, which is both cost efficient and delicious. I also love exploring new cities, biking in old and new places, and hearing about people's adventures. I strive to be silly and love when people are likewise. Games are a great way to get to know people, and so I love to play them.

For music, I used to play in a 60's-esque food rock band called The Really Cooks, where I played bass, sang, and dressed as a king! Ask me about what exactly food rock is.

I also played Irish folk music with friends, in a band called the Tullamore Crew. Recorders are great because you can take them anywhere!

And now I star with friends in an original comedic musical theatre production called "A Very Awesome Purim" every year, where I play the queen! Yes the queen.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although I only do Couchsurfing (hosting and surfing) occasionally, every experience has been amazing!

In my former six-person house in Philly, we hosted a plethora of Couchsurfers (under my friend Josh's profile) and had wonderful and silly times together!

My partner Lisa and I have had the opportunity to be hosted by several very special people. We look forward to great experiences with new people in new places!

I love to keep my own house clean, and we'll respect your space just the same. We don't smoke cigarettes ourselves, though of course we don't mind if other people do so around us, as long as it's not in a confined space.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rollerbladed around Paris all night before falling asleep watching the Eiffel Tower (and almost missing my bus to the airport).

Biked in the farmlands of Ireland in the misty rain.

Made 10 gallons (38 liters) of chicken soup all at once, in the backyard, on the coldest night of the year (-13 degrees Celsius). There was not enough room in the freezer.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to impart my soup making skills, or teach someone guitar or recorder. We'd love to learn about what life is like where you live, see cool sites and music. And most of all, play any cool and interesting games you have to share!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Anyone gracious enough to host us shall, if conditions are right and time depending, be rewarded with homemade soup, or baked goods. Or at least beer!

I can teach how to play music, and Lisa is an amazing knitter and dancer. A pretty good combination.
