We are Meg and Wayne (an awesome couple), Nate (a precocious 6-year-old), and Monster and Spooky (a beautiful but shy feline and cat that thinks she's a dog respectively).

We lead a busy but fun family-oriented life in the historic Woodstock neighborhood of Cape Town. (I mean, we go other places all the time too).

In 2013, Meg spent a year travelling around the world, where her experiences with CS hosts completely made the trip for her. She's very keen to pay back the goodwill she received, and also educate Wayne and Nate about the wonders of Couchsurfing.

ABOUT US

Meg is a South African-born writer and digital content strategist, recently returned from a round-the-world adventure. She has lived on three different continents, and been very fortunate to travel much. She's very passionate about cooking, and would love to learn to make the local dishes of all the places she visits.

Wayne works in the world of skateboard import and export. He makes sure the family keeps active, and is always looking for something fun to do outdoors. He loves hot rod cars, motorbikes and bicycles.

Nate is just as obsessed as his dad with motorbikes, and will happily spend hours building tracks for his toys to ride over. He also enjoys riding his bicycle, and playing with the cat, Spooky.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since I joined Couchsurfing almost 6 years ago, I have surfed with people all across the globe. My travelling experiences have been made so much richer for the amazing people that have contributed to my adventure with their time, space and generosity. Couchsurfing is a wonderful gift to the world.

Interests

I have a bit of a taste for the quirky and macabre, and love zombies and monsters. I'm in love with the aesthetic of the '50s, with pearls and polkadots all the way. I'm totally passionate about cooking and writing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm nuts for Neil Gaiman and Lauren Beaukes' books. Favourite movies include the Big Lebowski, The Fall, Beetljuice, Donnie Darko and Fight Club. The music I like is mostly old school rock 'n roll of the 60s and 70s, and I also love swing music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When visiting Sweden, my CS hosts took my travelling partner to a warm mountain lake for dinner. It was 10 in the evening, the water was warm, and hot air balloons were floating overhead. It was a simply magical moment :)

As a writer/editor, I would be more than happy to share my knowledge with anyone interested. I am also passionate about cooking, and would be more than happy to trade recipes and cooking lessons.
