About Me

CURRENT MISSION
To live with a clear mind, and open heart, I'm also applying for graduate school. And of course to travel and see the world, meet great people, and live life to the fullest!

ABOUT ME

I am a digital nomad, house sitter, freelancer, and writer, a somewhat philosophical, spiritual, and intellectual sort, with a sense of humor and generally light-hearted disposition. I am interested in a variety of things, ranging from Eastern philosophy and meditation to science and artificial intelligence, or alternative building methods and permaculture. I am a very kind and conscientious house guest, and I've never had any host complaints.

PHILOSOPHY

“Unconditional love really exists in each of us. It is part of our deep inner being. It is not so much an active emotion as a state of being. It’s not ‘I love you’ for this or that reason, not ‘I love you if you love me.’ It’s love for no reason, love without an object.” -Ram Dass

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I mostly use this as a format by which to meet cool open minded people abroad, being a solo digital nomad means making friends is always a challenge! I've not used it a ton, hence not too many references, but I'm looking to change that.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed a few couches, but haven't used this website a ton. Looking forward to using it more.

Interests

I have many interests but am particularly passionate about science, spirituality, meditation, entrepreneurship, outdoors activities, travel, and exploring the unknown. I have become enthralled with the Ananda community, whose motto is "Joy lives within you," and I know this to be true, so I try to live a life where that joy saturates as many moments as possible. I'm a bit passionate about politics, but am also aware it can be a touchy subject, so happy not to talk about it as well. Of course as a full time traveler, I love to explore and experience new cultures and beautiful places. Most of all I would consider myself as a person who is on the spiritual path, and seeking to serve a higher purpose with my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I like a lot of documentaries, Wes Anderson movies, O Brother Where Art Thou, funny stuff like Will Ferrel, and especially sci-fi...I watch a few streaming shows, some of my favorites are The OA, Twin Peaks, Stranger Things, and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

Books: I mostly read non-fiction, but these days I am also really into Sci-fi; some of my current favorite fictional authors are Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke, Terry Pratchett and I am particularly fond of Frank Herbert's Dune series. I like books that teach me practical skills, or investigate the unknown, like frontier science, spirituality, and far-out stuff like that.

Music: I mostly listen to music that sounds like it would be playing on a space ship (electronic), but enjoy other genres. I really enjoy chamber music, and simpler accoustic things, as well. Any music that has deep or thoughtful lyrics is appealing to me. Love David Bowie, The Beatles, Led Zep, and lots of other classics too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm Niagara Falls? Redwood Forest, icicle waterfalls in Iceland, monkeys on the beach in Costa Rica, the full solar eclipse totality, lots of cool stuff I suppose.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a few things, some marketing and entrepreneurship skills, meditation (I'm thinking about teaching it) wire wrapping, dream interpretation, cooking. Probably a bunch of things I can't come up with off the top of my head. If you want to learn to meditate, I would very much enjoy showing you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In addition to fun, I am always open to various forms of compensation, including cooking, groceries, cleaning, and even monetary compensation, if it ends up being a week or more.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, Scotland, Spain, United States
