About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Bringing the world together, one song at a time!

ABOUT ME

I love meeting people with good hearts, an openness not to judge others, be true to what you believe but "Stand your ground kindly and respectfully".

Singing and playing the guitar has brought me a wealth of true friends, lasting/continuing memories, and new journeys. My friends and family are very important to me.

I appreciate every day of good health through exercise and positive thinking. BodyMindSpirit is considered one word to me..one affects the other.

PHILOSOPHY

"Listen to your gut". I believe we were all given natural knowledge from the minute we were conceived. Once born and our lives start, that natural knowledge might get buried by many factors. .. so we learn to "re-learn" much of the the inner knowledge that was given us as we go along in life. I feel our purpose here is to get back to that garden of inner knowledge we were given. Listen to small children ages 2 or 3 for the best answers to most everything, and if newborns could speak... oh the knowledge they may impart!

I had an amazing experience that happened to me on Jan 15, 2001 that put me on a wonderful path of seeing my time here with new "eyes".. the ones that lie in my spirit.

IF we pay attention we then know who we are. When we know who we are, we treat others with same respect we (hopefully) give ourselves.

This tiny planet feels the thread effect every time each of us does something positive. Conversely, the planet reels from negative actions.

CS is a wonderful organization when people join with the right intention. It helps the world stop focusing on differences and instead celebrate seeing each other as one family, We get the joy of meeting fellow brothers and sisters--learn about them, and about ourselves. In doing so, we'll come to treasure the moments we have and how each day is chance to create amazing memories for tomorrow.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like thinking of myself as a Goodwill Ambassador . Every day I strive to treat people the way I like to be treated. Couch Surfing gives me a great opportunity to apply that on a local and global level.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

--2007, I took a couch surfer around San Diego to see some sights. He was already staying with a Couch host in town and just needed someone to help him with his English. I needed to work on my French, so we'd meet up to work on language exchange an hour a day for about a week.
-- 2009 I visited Montreal and got to spend the day with CS'er, Danielle. So good of her to take me all around her neighborhood!
--I hosted Lory M, who was visiting from Milano, Italy for several nights and showed her around San Diego and do some singing.
--2009 I was hosted for two days by a wonderful couple, The Goldens (aptly named) in Boston, Mass.
--2010 -- Paris France. Stayed in tiny hotel but met up with Paris CS'ers to see some sights.
---Ethan F. from Seattle spent a few days here in SanDiego while he was going around the states interviewing singer/songwriters.
--June of 2011, I spent 30 days in an apt in Paris. My son Michael had some time so he joined me. We played Open Mics, we sat-in on friends' gigs, played the Fete de Musique street event, met some great folks in Aix en Provence,
-- We performed at an incredible House Concert for 50 CouchSurfers in attendance in The Hague., Netherlands . Albert was the consummate host, and has become a longtime friend. He is not hosting any longer (2015) but he did his part for years on CS. We stayed in his wonderful home for 3 nights, surfing with several others. Mike and I had the privilege to play our music for all those "Surfers" from around the globe, making some wonderful new friends!
--2012: IRELAND. Had a Couch Surfer take me around Dublin showed me best pubs for music!
---Back in San Diego I hosted Matt from New Zealand for a couple of days. Great hippie! Great intellect and all heart. He's out there traveling the world, going with the flow, and learning about himself through his journey on a dime!
--Also: Hosted the wonderful David (from France) and his love, Meret (Switzerland). What a wonderful couple of human beings!
--Jan, 2013. "Day Hosted" two indiv CSer's.. about a week apart: Louis from New Orleans, and Laura fromAlabama/France/Mexico!
---2014 Back to Paris with my son again for music connections. We met many CSers and did a show once again in The Hague, Netherlands for Couch Surfers.
---2015. Paris for only a week but it was great week. Met up with some CSers at The Highlander one night.
---August 2016. Europe- Paris, Lille, Amsterdam, The Hague, Hilversum, and London.. Several CS moments and being hosted by friends in Europe , The other half of the time I stayed in Hostels ( which are another wonderful wonderful thing I love to do-- so I can meet travelers from around the globe! I highly recommend "Young and Happy" Hostel at 80 Rue Mouffetard in Paris' Latin Quarter i've stayed there three different times now when in Europe. It's OLD so the plumbing is not the newest! but it's full of character and charm and the people you'll meet are willing to sit and talk .. and truly value of "family" around the globe! Many of them are on CS as well.
-----2016 and going forward! Now I Email with those visiting San Diego and give them tips on our town or if time permits, take them around a bit! And attend Meetups now and then. I have found that many of the meetups are now travelers from the USA not as many from outside the USA but that is prob because our the Exchange Rate changed this year! ( it was finally IN MY FAVOR in Europe this last trip. .!) Anyway its all worth it.

All the "traveling money" I set aside in 2010 is now GONE! HA! But it was money well spent . I now have a BILLION dollars worth of memories . So the "return on investment" when one travels is AWESOME. .Traveling not only leads you to amazing friends in the family of man around the country and the globe.. but it leads you to yourself IF you keep your eyes and heart wide open and pay attention to that "real and honest" gut you were born with and if you are willing to sit and talk and listen to others. What a privilege it is to meet other people, and share ideas and thoughts. Whether you agree or "agree to disagree.". the best part is, that you took time to listen. Remind yourself, the people you see around you.. are YOU, had your life been theirs.. Treat them kindly. :)

1) I have the honor of being "MOM" to two incredible human beings, my sons, Matthew and Michael Reed!

2) Joan Baez asked if she could get up on stage and sing with me.. not once but twice! Wow! (see my website for details.. www.SuzanneSheaMusic.com). What a generous soul she is!

Teach, Learn, Share

--I can show you a few guitar chords, and encourage you to sing from your heart!
--There are no coincidences... but instead a wonderful thread that connects us all. I look back and now see how the dots connected, and the doors of lessons, opportunity, happiness that were put in front of me all along. The difference now is that I see them when I'm in the middle of the moment, which has made all the difference.

I can try to teach you that...

We will go out walking for 10 min's or hour .. Watch what unfolds as we walk along, watch what we see around us, what we hear, who we meet.. What may look like "nothing" to you, you will start to see the importance of it. You will see how everyone you meet that day, actually has a gift of information to give you, or you to them, and there is always a reason why we met or spoke that person, or we were in a particular place that minute.

The reason may not show up for years, maybe it will show the next minute or next day? But there is a reason for things that happen. and a lesson learned if we stay open to the classroom around us. :)
