About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find my other sock.

ABOUT ME

I'm currently hanging out in Europe after competing in the World Bodypainting festival in Austria (really). I'm very adaptable and, I think, outgoing. I'm a vegan, but I am also quite a good cook and can show you how awesome vegan cooking can actually be, if you're up for it. I like to dress up. And bodypaint, do circus, and cycle. My favourite way of getting to know a place is getting lost in it. I wrote all of this about four years ago and despite numerous changes in my life, it appears to still be true!

PHILOSOPHY

Utilitarian, effective altruist. If you would like to know more about what that means I am more than happy to have long philosophical conversations with you. If you aren't interested, I won't. I am curious about people and what is important to them. I'll let you do your thing, and you let me do my thing. Harm no one.

Also, people are generally the source of all happiness. And probably all pain.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I prefer to think of traveling as visiting new and old friends rather than new and old places. I would like to extend my friendship net out as far as it will go, and I hope that others will be able to find anchor points for their with me in Sydney.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I discovered that one of my friends in Sydney is a couchsurfing host, and it made me jealous and want to host too. I've gone to some CS events, and met some awesome people.

I have surfed a couple of times, and met some pretty excellent people. I introduced a lovely Austrian lady to the magical world of bodypainting, got lost at an underground rave with a Serbian couple who introduced me to their mysterious music scene, and swapped stories with an American girl in Paris.

Interests

Economics, philosophy and doing the most good possible with the time and resources I have. Directing circus, writing, aerial silks, juggling and diabolo, circus in general, cycling, acrobatics, creating, learning languages, painting (bodies and paper!), and vegan cooking. Obviously travel. Anything that involves novelty.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I created and direct a blacklight body art circus show in Australia. It's a real thing. We're doing our fourth festival tour in September.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a pretty good cook, especially vego food. This sounds like I'm sucking up, but i actually love doing washing up. If it interests you I can teach you things about economics, maths, statistics, philosophy, and effective altruism.

I could probably teach some English, or possibly Spanish or French. I'd also love to meet anyone who would like to be a bodypainting or facepainting model (and not all models are nude!), or if you know anyone who would be up for it, as I work on my projects and practice my art while traveling. I can paint lots of things.

I would love to meet other circus performers, particularly acrobats and diabolists I can skill share with! I'd also love to meet people in the startup scene, and anyone working on projects they think will change the world :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Do you want to be facepainted or bodypainted? I have won the Australian bodypainting championships three times and come 4th at the World championships, so I'm pretty good at it, and I love to practice and share.

Speak English or Spanish with me! Or laugh as I attempt to speak French or German!

I love seeing circus shows, so if there are any on while I'm in your city, it's my treat :)
