About Me

CURRENT MISSION- growing up and mastering daily life!

ABOUT ME
I am open-minded, friendly, cheerful and very respectful of and curious about other cultures. I tend to be a bit anxious as a person, but I try fighting those fears on a daily basis to challenge myself and explore more of the world.
Someone once told me I was looking at the world through the eyes of a child. Finding EVERYTHING as interesting as if I had been born just seconds ago.

I love long conversations about politics, philosophy, life, psychology and anything else that comes to mind. And I can't wait to have them with you, provided we find a language we both have in common. As for me, that can be hand and feet. :-D

PHILOSOPHY
I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.
Rabindranath Tagore
(trying to embrace & escape that philosophy)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here because I want to get to know people from other cultures, maybe even make new friends, and help others out by providing a couch (mattress) to crash and showing people around Berlin.

I've had amazing couchsurfing experiences so far. Surfing couches during my eastern Europe trip: Vienna, Budapest, Varna, Sofia and Athens - loved it! We met so many great people and even made new friends. Hosting crazy Aussie guys who were really fun to be with. Meeting the wonderful Chris in Sydney. She gave us a home and a shelter for quite a long time and I am so grateful for that.

Unfortunately, I feel like the community on couchsurfing is changing. Please do read my profile thoroughly if you want to stay with me, and please let me know in a message why you would like to stay with me specifically. This is about cultural exchange, not about saving money in the first place! I will generally decline any couchsurfing request that looks like it has been copy-pasted.

Interests

Travelling, of course; photography and film; the weather :-), thunderstorms and science in general; nature; politics; reading; watching movies, cinema, bellydancing. Oh - and I do love cats.

I'm crazy about psychology, or maybe psychology has made me crazy? My parents are both psychologists and I grew up with that stuff. Horrible. And still I started studying it. :-D

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I do not have a very sophisticated taste of music and I don't know much about it, I don't even have favorite bands or so. I listen to everything that's on the radio and I particularly enjoy club and dance music but I might happen to like music from any other genre that's out there. Depends on the song.

Movies: A completely different story. I absolutely love movies and learning everything about them. If I could and would start over, I'd probably study film!
A few of my favorite ones: Erin Brockovich, Elizabethtown, Gone Girl, The Intouchables, Monsieur Claude; more recently I watched e.g. Interstellar or Edge of Tomorrow and loved them both. Anything with action is good, but awe-inspiring pictures or great storytelling are great too. I don't really like artsy, "we are SO not Hollywood" movies. I particularly enjoy a good low-budget disaster movie. My favorite: "2-headed shark attack".

Books: There we go again, not a very sophisticated taste... I love books (and get lost in them once I start reading), but only the ones that are entertaining. I have not read many classics and I am waiting for the day on which I suddenly become a classy adult and have a desire to read "Faust". Or so. I normally enjoy sci-fi thrillers (my favorite author is Michael Chrichton, I've probably read anything he ever wrote), my current passion is doomsday literature, specifically zombie novels. Oh well... But one trilogy I absolutely enjoyed and value for its realistic (on an emotional as well as political level) ending is "The Hunger Games".
