About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To build a world class organic winery in Sonoma and share it with friends

ABOUT ME

British by birth, American by accent, French by education.

Born and raised in a village with more ducks than people, outside of Oxford, England, I moved to Sonoma, California when I was 11 years old. I studied wine through university and at 26 years old I sold everything I owned and backpacked the world for 2 years, making wine in Australia, France, New Zealand and California. I enjoy making new friends and being surrounded by great food, great wine and great company.

Currently I farm 2 small vineyards, a family winery in Napa and I make wine for my own small organic microwinery in Sonoma. I also have a gentle and loving 2 year old border collie vineyard dog.

Adventure is key to growth, which has promoted me to do some pretty spontaneous and irrational things. I once rode on the outside of a train for 300 miles. I have smuggled myself back into the country in the trunk of a stranger’s car, because I forgot my greencard. I have run with bulls, dove with great white sharks, enjoy motorcycle adventure camping, flying small airplanes around California wine country. I enjoy staying active and healthy. I appreciate things I have and try to stay positive in every situation, oh, and I LOVE wine!

PHILOSOPHY

I practice spiritual stoicism. You can't control very much in life, so take advantage of things you can control: your mood, your energy, your participation, your actions. Be positive and positive things will happen, and I feel bad for people who don't find time to laugh.

I also believe in plant medicine and spiritual journeys

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participated by sleeping on couches, offering good wine and conversation to people around the world while completing my wine MBA. Now it's my turn to lend a couch to people in need.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Life changing.

Interests

I enjoy wine, farming, philosophy, flying small airplanes, billiards, wood fires, camping, adventure motorcycles and sharing positive and deep conversations. I've also discovered a new interest in piano, and just purchased one for my living room. My next goal is to learn how to make cheese! I love herbal teas and I'm fascinated with energy, plant medicine, homeopathy and acupunture.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy talking about wine, because it's a fascinating beverage.

I can teach you how to farm grapes, make wine and drink wine. I can also teach you how to ride a motorcycle, I actually learned from a couchsurfer back in Bordeaux, summer 2010.

I am learning Piano and can teach a few Adele, Beatles and 2pac songs.

I want to learn about more music, languages & culture.
