About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To improve myself each day, and to do things that help others.

ABOUT ME

I'm a feminist who lives in Chicago, with my wonderful partner, Eli. Currently, I'm looking forward to a couple of trips (currently Guatemala and Detroit, then Pakistan or Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan next year!), am trying to expand my pin business, and want to cook more and work on my mental health as much as possible (therapy, meditation, focusing on self care, etc.). Social justice is important to me and I'm down to fight for it! I love nature, making things (whether it be graphic design, playing with resin, or food), exploring new and old places, spending time around trees (and outside in general), spending time with the people I love.

I have had my profile set to not accepting guests for a bit now. This didn't used to be the case but as CS has gotten more popular and I've moved to a highly visited city I was getting a massive amount of requests for a while. I'm not on the site as much as I used to be and I would miss messages and feel bad. I do plan on opening my home up more soon though as we love having guests, and often end up with impromptu ones (ie. we meet a friend of a friend that is staying in the suburbs or something and invite them to stay with us as we're located in a pretty convenient part of the city).

PHILOSOPHY

Think about the person you want to be, and constantly work to be that person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed a lot, hosted some (in Chicago and in England), and have attended loads of events. I look forward to doing more of these things in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have made wonderful friends, and seen places in a way I would have never saw them without my lovely hosts! I love exploring my city as much as possible, and enjoy introducing it to others.

Interests

The forest and nature in general, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, culture, art, music, baking, and social justice. Besides that I spend time with the wonderful people in my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Dostoevskey, Bukowski, Capote. I like fairy tales more than most people over five. I like zines and graphic novels a lot. Batman comics are my jam. I love Catwoman (esp. Ed Brubker and Darwyn Cooke's Catwoman).

Films: Darjeeling Limited, Matilda, Addams Family Values, and Trainspotting. Yes, I'm aware that I'm a child adult in ways! Also, I'll watch a documentary on almost anything.

Music: Radiohead, Portishead, AA Bondy, M. Ward, The Kills, Other Lives, The Smiths, Radkey, loads of things.

Television: "The Blacklist" is probably my favorite show. I loved The Good Place when it was on. What I watch changes constantly.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Celebrating a Palestinian wedding in the middle of the desert.

Eating delicious, giant feasts in the middle of the night, with friends, during Ramadan in Morocco.

Sleeping on the loveliest, most remote beach in Oman.

A friend taking me back to his dental practice in Nablus, Palestine to put a little diamond on my tooth at like 12:30am.

How do people choose one thing?! These are just travel amazing things!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach someone how to stencil, make jewelry, basic Photoshop. I design enamel pins and work with manufacturers, and could teach folks about making their own pins.

I like to learn everything! I'm endlessly fascinated by culture. I want to learn everything about flowers. I love making things and cooking, so anything related to creating something new. I want to improve my very shitty Spanish.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Travel experiences, I could try and explain our (the US) mess of a political system if you're not super familiar...
