ABOUT ME

Hi. My name is Lizzy. I am 28 and originally from Wisconsin, USA, though other places ride shotgun to the dairy state these days. One is New York, where I just moved! It is such an exciting apple, and an ugly one, and I think the most delicious. It's the biggest playground in the world.

What else? Giallo is my favourite word, or at least it used to be. I picked up a few really beautiful ones last year: 'an fan yan lei' means end of day, in Gaelic; 'lulun' is egg, in Quechua. Sounds to restore faith in the world.

Also like to sing on the street, on bicycles, over washtubs, in any and all stairwells. I´m not much for -isms or -ians, even though those words probably define me anyway. If I could use up my body in any way, it would be dancing. I have been quite content traveling the world and feeding people their first peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

PHILOSOPHY

This seems about right:

"Ah my Beloved, fill the Cup
that clears To-Day of Past Regrets and Future Fears,
Tomorrow, why Tomorrow, I may be Myself,
with Yesterday's Seven Thousand Years."

from the Rubiyat of Omar Khayyam (FitzGerald's translation)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

CS has been a beautiful addition to my wanderings and I seek to give back to others the kindness and unparalleled generosity I've known here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I´ve met people for food and drinks...is what I wrote before I'd really delved into this flying machine. CS is like one night when we were driving and I was trying to sleep on the window-but there, when I looked up, were all the stars in the sky. And CS is like that, except, I've never seen that sky again, but here, I keep meeting the most sensational people and falling into joyous travel.

Interests

Jazz in winter, roasted almonds, dancing, laughing, learning, making music, being kind, not wrapping myself up in too many words (so that will be the end of this..)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's almost too sacred to describe, but then again it's just one of those things. When in the midst of music, time slows. Tonight at drumming.. in a warm room with hummus and cooperative folk.. on stage.. from stairs, to doors, in France. Even though time has consistently and summarily spit me out again, for a moment I've touched the face of God, peace, or whatever it is we usually don't know in this life.

Teach, Learn, Share

My traveler's tip: If you are looking for the best cheesecake in the world, asides from the one I make of course, there is this cafe just off of Via dei Michelozzi in the Santo Spiritu district of Florence that is simply amazing.

Though I wouldn't call myself an expert in any one field..yet!..I would happily cook with you or for you, trade ditties on the guitar, practice handstands, talk writing, swimming, travel, music, philos..I am a skilled cheese-speaker, by the way, and if you do not know what that is, I will just have to demonstrate in person!

I'm hopelessly intrigued by mathematics and astronomy, so if you are versed in those fields, I would love to chat.
