About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel and host. Right now, literally, I'm driving from LA to ATL via Minnesota. That's a travel adventure. Then, I'll be living the next two years in China 住在中国, and would afterwards like to live in Argentina for a couple of years

ABOUT ME

I'm very serious about life and being honest while sensitive to others. I love to laugh: prefer your jokes to mine. I'm thoughtful and I plan my life and future. Within a broad framework of goals, I have the freedom to be adventurous and spontaneous. I am flexible and able to redefine my directions. I like to read, study language, and travel. I've been a civil litigator, owner and operator of a bed and breakfast style horseback riding ranch, a Chaplain's assistant in the Army, a student of Chinese, Spanish, inter alia . . . .

PHILOSOPHY

Oh boy. This would fill a tome. I think humans are fundamentally more similar than not. We tend to manifest certain characteristics. We have the potential to show any characteristics that anyone else does. Through this understanding, I am able to feel compassion for others. I believe that we can improve ourselves and the world around us by increasing our compassion for one another. I believe in the value of love and respect for others. And I think the Golden Rule is a great guide for my conduct and my words.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've recently signed up. I would like to host as well as be hosted. For 5 years, I operated a bed and breakfast style guest ranch hosting people around the world. I'll have a couch in China during the next two years and I look forward to introducing CS surfers to the Middle Kingdom.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

For 5 years, I operated a bed and breakfast style guest ranch hosting people around the world.

Some guests prefer their privacy. Others like to engage in conversation. I feel like I'm flexible about the way I surf or host.

When I was a teenager in my parent's home, I was a couch-potato. I prefer the surfing.

Interests

Travel. Living in other cultures and countries and learning languages. Discovering new people and new places. I love taking pictures of landscapes, animals, plants, and people. I love reading and writing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies, music, and books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Does this question ask me to choose among: Kissed my wife, learned to snowboard in Switzerland, went shark-diving off Catalina, flew close to an erupting volcano, saw a newborn child, watched my father-in-law take his last breath, saw via TV a man land on the moon, fathomed the speed of a super-computer, the expanse of the university, the smallness of sub-atomic particles, or contemplate peace on earth.

Teach, Learn, Share

I agree: we all have something to teach to each other and something to learn from each other. And I want to emphasize "we all." San re xing, bi you wo shi yan!

Let's allow ourselves to explore those areas when we meet.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Costa Rica, Denmark, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland
