***THANKS FOR READING***

My friends call me Tyco.

I moved to NYC in late March 2023, so I am still in the process of exploring and learning my surroundings. Prior to moving to NYC, I lived in South Florida, and before that, I lived in Nashville, Chicago, D.C., Honolulu, and Atlanta (where I was born and raised).

I did not host anyone through Couchsurfing for many years, but I did continue to participate in CS events around the world. Now that I have my own place again, I have resumed hosting people when my schedule permits.

Sometimes I come across as serious, reserved, and perhaps a little bland, but I am actually quite fun, a bit goofy, and very much a big kid at heart, and I'm always up for new adventures. I am both a homebody and an avid traveler, so I feel content playing board games and card games at home just as much as I do crisscrossing the globe.

I'm a drummer (www.iamtyco.com). I am also a flight attendant for a major US-based airline, so music and travel occupy a majority of my time.

I enjoy meeting fellow musicians who are as passionate about their craft as I am about mine. I love animals, especially dogs--all dogs are puppies! I'm a very tolerant, open-minded person with respect for and appreciation for differences in opinions, beliefs, etc, despite my own strong opinions, which I am always willing to share (:P). I am an extrovert, and I have a very enthusiastic and inquisitive nature when I meet new people. I prefer to live without the stress of adhering to a strict schedule (sometimes this bothers others, but, for me, it makes dealing with life's unexpected road blocks, hiccups, and so on that much more bearable). I'm also a hardcore night owl--mornings are beautiful, but I prefer to sleep in :P

Lastly, I am gay, so we don't have to have any awkward conversations about that later on. My place is a safe space for anyone of any sexual orientation. My husband, Vladislav, lives in Eastern Europe, but occasionally, he will be in town and stay at my place. His cat, Tima, lives with me as of recently. If you have any allergies to cats, then my place may not be suitable for you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING:

I understand what it feels like to be a stranger in a foreign place, so it is my goal to extend to other Couchsurfers the same open-arms hospitality that others have shown to me throughout my travels. Mi casa es su casa (con tal de que su casa sea mi casa)! :P

I intend to participate in as many local CS events as possible during my time in NYC, and I plan to host a few of my own including game nights and rooftop gatherings to socialize while enjoying the city skyline. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE:

While I surfed in the past, I prefer to be a host and share my space wherever I may be living at the time. I have also attended many social events during my travels including a Christmas day trip to Tokyo Disney, in addition to hosting many of my own--I love hosting game nights!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I finally saw Big Ben!! This may seem insignificant, but London was my very first international destination (by myself, nonetheless), so I count this experience as the beginning of the realization of a lifelong dream to travel the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you free drum lessons during your visit! :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A unique perspective and a few strong opinions, accompanied by a smile, some laughter, or perhaps some awkward moments... but most definitely a memorable, mostly positive experience :P

I don't cook (from scratch) very well, but I can always assist (I follow written recipes fairly well).

I love sharing music and being exposed to new bands and artists!

I appreciate company during my adventures and would love to explore with you!
