À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Survive the most unplanned trip to the US possible, find some brilliant people and inspire myself to greater things over the next five weeks. Easy :)

ABOUT ME

I'm a fun-loving, relaxed person who really wants to make the most of meeting people and having a great time. Having company is the best but I'm quite happy discovering things for myself and being independent.

I go out of my way to help others and enjoy all kinds of experiences and activities. I definitely won't shy away from a challenge and love to put myself out there and discover what the world has to offer and what I can give back.

Once a pretty timid and reserved character, I've found the real adventurous me and want to make the most of it, with you!

PHILOSOPHY

Be open-minded, experience everything you can and try to push yourself out of your comfort zone as much as possible. Do the best you can and whatever happens to you in life is the best that could have happened at that time. And don't worry too much about anything!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't...yet! Only found out about CS in June and with a 5 week trip to the US on the horizon and nowhere really to stay it seemed like a match made in heaven.

I'll pretty much be throwing myself out there and seeing what happens. I have the attitude that things tend to work out and hopefully I'll find some lovely hosts who want to share experiences and the summer with me.

Then I'll be able to return the favour by hosting people in my home town of Cambridge when I'm back at university, giving them the best time possible of course! From there it'd be nice to get further involved with the CS Project, maybe contribute to the site a bit more, become an ambassador...who knows? It's all in the future but I can't wait to get started!

Centres d'intérêt

I'm a massive sports player so always tend to be doing something active. I love football, hockey, snowboarding, American football, windsurfing, cycling, mountain biking, swimming, baseball, working out (and skiing, when the snowboarders aren't looking!) - basically anything going!

But I'm not some sports junky...there's plenty of other things in my life that make me just as happy. I enjoy experiencing anything new or trying something different with someone who is passionate about it, wanting to see it through their eyes and what they love about their interest. Which is why you'll quite often find me wandering around art galleries and museums at the moment, even though I've never been the greatest fan in the past. I want to see if there's something there that interests, challenges or just makes me feel happy. I'm very much open to anything!

Alongside everything else I'm pretty fond of the outdoors, travelling and meeting people. I've also got a soft spot for animals - there's never been a time in my life when we haven't had a menagerie of pets at home!

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Two years ago I threw myself at the challenge of completing a charity snowboarding marathon as a total beginner. I travelled across Europe from the French Alps with all my gear to a small ski resort in Austria to find the snow had completely melted! We spent the first day surfing water and mud on the slopes and having a torrid time. Everyone was devastated and struggling to get through the event. For all the build up and planning, it left us all feeling pretty bummed.

However, everything changed overnight, giving us the most incredible sight to wake up to - three feet of snow dumped at the most perfect time! I had one of the best days of my life, lost in deep snow, floating through the trees of remote Austrian mountain villages with a local guide who couldn't help but giggle the whole way! We were in absolute heaven and it is undoubtedly one of the most amazing things I have ever been a part of. The change in fortunes over the course of the two days was almost as spectacular as the scenery!
