About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live your life. Life is too short to complain

ABOUT ME
I am an English teacher. I am passionate about my job and educational questions. The world is changing fast and I feel our French educational system is not preparing our kids for tomorrow's challenges. I want to change that.
As a guest couchsurfer, I am a clean, polite and honest. I am very considerate to others, respectful of the environment and of nature. Helping other people makes me happy. I love cats and dogs. When i commit myself into something i do it 100%.

PHILOSOPHY

"Do one thing that scares you everyday (Quote by E.Roosevelt)".
I love challenges and i have a positive attitude especially when i have to overcome a failure. What does not kill you makes you stronger.
Travelling brought me so much. It is good to look what is going on away to learn more about yourself

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Talk about it to my students, the people I met who are about to travel.
So far, I have surfed more than hosted. I used to live in a very small flat where it was not possible to have guest but i would invite people to have a meal at my place. I have recently moved out in a bigger flat so i can host more often.
when i host a couchsurfer I treat them as a friend and do my best to make their experience in Paris wonderful.

When I couchsurf i always try to find people I am likely to get along with. It means spending hours reading profiles and sending personal messages but it is really worth it. I have never been disappointed and have now so many good memories.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been doing couchsurfing for several years now. It enabled me to meet some wonderful people and learn a lot about the places I visited. I also gave me the opportunity to share about my culture, about Paris. I am still i touch with some couchsurfers I met few years ago. It's the best way to make new friends around the world

Interests

Travelling, reading, sport :Tango, cycling, hiking. I love being in the nature (I enjoy gardening), around animals and around children.
I also love photography, spending time in museums (I go regularly to Le Louvre, Musée d'Orsay etc..), art galleries, getting to know about local the history of the place I am visiting. I also love walking in the streets of Paris, and fell so lucky to live in a such beautiful place, I know Paris very well, I am always eager to learn more about its history and share it.

I like also doing things with my hands. I renovated my flat (I did everything except the plumbing things) and totally redorated it. I love the idea of giving a second life to objects or places. I regularly sew things for my house, my friends and I sew part of my clothes. I love being creative and love being around people who create.

I read also books on education, self-development, environment issues
Some of my favourite films : "American History X" "Life is beautiful" by Roberto Bellini, Amelie, le huitième jour, Kubrick's films, The Wave (German film showing how a dictature can be easily implemented)

Music: pop rock, disco, 80s, tango, classical music, opera

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1)Skydiving when I was in Australia.
Another amazing thing that i have seen in Australia : a koala in the wildlife which i grant you is not that extraordinary in Australia except when you have walked head up for 2 hours. One of my best time in Australia.

2)NOT speak for 10 days in several Vipassana meditation courses (no reading, no music or any other distraction and no contact with the outside world) : great for a break !!!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach : Obviously I teach English because this is my job. But I also try to arouse my students' curiousity, teach them to be respectul with others and themselves and of the environment.
Learn : I always learn by reading, listening to cultural programs on the radio or taking classes, workshops ( sewing, cooking, photography etc..).

Share : I can teach you (and even make if I can find the ingredients) how to cook an easy but delicious quiche (my mum's recipe !!!)or or give you some tips to take good pictures or say some very romantic French words you will tell to your boyfriend or girlfriend !
