ABOUT ME

Hey guys!
I caught the travel bug a little over 15 years ago. I have backpacked in several different places around the world, lived in a number of different countries where I've worked and tried many new things. It was an amazing experience. I'm am currently home in Alberta with my husband and son. I just became a Registered Nurse and am also working as an EMT. We still get out a few times a year though for a great vacations!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well I decided to get on here for a few reasons.. After travelling around, meeting new people and luckily having several opportunities to meet those people again somewhere else whether in their country or mine, I love getting the chance to host them at my place, show them sights, family life, and a comforting place to rest and relax... we all need it when we're on the road... and I love visiting people and seeing first hand their way of life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First experience EVER! was on my first trip to Australia. Met Ben online on another site. He accepted my request to crash on his couch in Sydney where him and his brother shared an apartment. Was my 2nd night in Sydney that he took me in, and luckily even though it sounds dodgy to crash on a strangers couch... well it was a good kick off to the whole idea and we had a blast for days!

Met Scotty Sonia on my first trip to Australia 4 years ago. This year she was super kind to host me and my boyfriend for a night in Edinburgh Scotland! LOVED IT! and of course seeing her again after so many years.

Worked with a fellow Canadian in Thailand in 2008. He came back to Canada after several years of being away, looking for work and a place to live. He crashed at our house for 3 weeks. Was great to catch up and help him get back on his feet.

One of my favourties was having an aussie mate that I met while working in an outback pub. He devorced his wife and took off for Canada. (his first time out of Queensland, let alone first time out of Australia) I picked him up at the bus station, and he stayed for a couple weeks. Got to show him a real Thanksgiving Dinner, family birthdays and introduced him to a Canadian way of life!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love Manta Rays and still do a little crazy dance when I see them each time with customers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like teaching people how to scuba dive... so maybe if you have a pool... and some tanks... then we'll have heaps of fun! I would love to learn a language... or atleast practice different phrases. I enjoy stimulating conversations and a good debate.
