About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ramblin' on my mind

Blog: ubbound.blogspot.com

The rundown:

I followed in the footsteps of a fellow Georgia native, Doc Holliday, and moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado a few years ago. This is a spectacular part of the world and I get a real kick out of sharing it with guests.

I enjoy the outdoors including hiking, trail running, rafting, diving, skiing, flyfishing, mountain biking, etc. I am passionate about the necessity to step outside ones comfort zone to grow.

My past travels include traveling around Europe after a semester abroad, a summer in the mideast on a student research program, climbing in Mexico, traveling from Italy to Mongolia by rail, living a year in Mongolia as a Fulbright Fellow, and traveling overland from Mongolia to India. More recently I had a chance to spend a month between jobs in Peru motorcycling around and seeing the sights and as beautiful as Colorado is, I am itching to get in some more travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Prior to living in Mongolia, I opted for a detour and traveled from Europe to Mongolia by rail with stops along the way in Tuscany, Paris, Brussels, Aarhus, Lapland, Helsinki, St Petersburg, Moscow, and Irkutsk. Thanks to everyone who made this an unforgettable trip.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reading what I think will be a new favorite, monkey wrench gang by Edward Abbey. It's a satisfying read chocked full of fantasies (I share with abbey) of resisting the destruction of our wild lands. Great book but not to be taken as an instruction pamphlet... Always looking for my next read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

.

Teach, Learn, Share

Share:
Mongolian language- I only have the basics now but I would be happy to share what I know and besides, teaching is one of the best ways to learn.
Fly fishing- I was an instructor for a summer and am all for sharing this skill/art-form.
Learn:
Mongolian language: Hoping to have at least a conversational understanding of the language by the end of my stay.
French- know a few basics and love the language
Spanish- Would be super useful around here and plenty of opportunities to practice.
