A traveller at heart, I do my best at attempting to indulge in a deep dedication to higher mathematics while enjoying as rich a social, political and cultural life as possible.

I believe that my passion lies in improvising, in creating on the spot. When travelling solo, one can decide on the whim whether to hitch a ride over to some other random place or stay for another month with these people who you happened to share some fun music with. When playing music, one can make up stuff on the spot and try to get the rest of players to understand where you're wanting to go. When doing mathematics, well... let's just not get into that.

After living in Geneva, Madrid, Boston and Cambridge (UK) I moved to San Francisco last August, settling down here for a little while. Turns out that Stanford University figures it's worthwhile to endure me as a PhD student, so I better come up with some colorful pictures that I can put together into some sort of geometry dissertation or whatever. Sounds fun? Yes?

Unfortunately my living situation is somewhat unorthodox and does not allow me to host right now. I'll be happy to explain why: it's a funny one. But have done and will do. Let's meet up in the SF couchsurfing scene or anywhere else in the world!

No particular personal philosophy... I've thought for too long about too many too hard questions, so I've learnt not to have strong opinions about anything of great philosophical depth, although that doesn't mean I don't have a lot of thoughts to share... but I do try to live my life as happily and joyfully as I can, while making sure that I help everyone else as much as possible to enjoy their lives just as fully. This encompasses making your friends and loved ones feeling well and cared about, but also participating in social struggle to change the dominating system that perpetuates inequality and oppression around the world. If you're really interested let us talk deeply about it- I'll never say no to such an absurdly ambiguous, violently necessary and intimately personal topic of conversation.

I have been lucky enough to travel my share around the world meeting amazing people. Many from CS. I've hosted and surfed here and there, both off and on CS. This sort of traveling has rewarded me with fond memories of fantastic experiences that I'll never forget. I have also been very involved in the local CS community of Boston for the year I was there, hosting as much as I could too. No doubt it'll stay a big part of my life...

I enjoy music of all sorts, particularly when played live and not taken too seriously -so the performer won't mind my percussion weaving into the rhythm. Jazz might be the all-time winner. Literature is always present in my life -mostly english, french and spanish- and other than fiction I read quite a bit of political stuff... which is only natural since I'm very active politically and it is certainly one of my main occupations in life. Another would be theatre - having acted in quite a few plays and directing my own production has taught me quite a bit, as well as just being sheer fun. It goes without saying that I'm very passionate about mathematics, particularly topology and geometry - and I'll be delighted to give you an idea of what is beautiful about it if you're willing to give me the chance. I enjoy finding myself in weird situations, and absurd humour as a guiding principle of life.

I mean, I could go on talking about stuff I enjoy, or start a psychoanalytical description of my views on love and romance, but I'm getting tired of writing and anyways you're probably getting tired of reading yourself, so let's call it a day and save the rest for a conversation over a chilled drink in whichever corner of the planet we happen to meet in!

Swam amongst sharks in the south pacific... learnt banjo picking under the rain while camping on the 99 mile walk from Philadelphia to New York... lived without money, hierarchy or greed in the 15M protest camp in Sol square in Madrid... hitchiked the Magistrala road down the Adriatic coast... had an effigy of myself covered in gasoline and burnt at my Boston goodbye festival-party... survived a complete Latin Grace in the majestic dining hall of medieval Gonville & Caius College at Cambridge University... shivered flat on the ground tripping as a lightning storm struck Black Rock City... watched the sun and moon cycle round and round Death Valley from the top of the Eureka dunes...

I can do math. Not only helping with whatever needs helping, but I can try to convey the beauty and ideas of such an unfortunately misunderstood subject. Just try not to laugh when I start talking about doughnuts and lassos. I am always willing to share music, anything involving piano, guitar,percussion, and terrible singing. Ah, the folk process. Sea shanties. No, seriously, let's play some music together. Let us also speak in spanish/english/french, draw some comics, improvise a few comedy scenes or whatever. Climb some mountains. Thumb some roads. I'm game for whatever you're planning. Flexibility and adaptability are skills I enjoy developing. Just bribe me with a smile.
