About Me

Updating this after a super long time... I'm still kind of shy but warm up quickly. I still love to travel. I spend a huge amount of time now at school since I study/work there. I study that feeling you get when you binge-watch/read something (we call it narrative engagement) and how people become misinformed from text (in stories or online, etc.).

I do get to travel for work, some. Live with an awesome housemate (also a grad student) and a giant, dopey dog in Chitown. Love it here, except for the winter. Love the idea of helping people get a chance to see this place (even in the winter). Apparently like to use parentheses a lot (...).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like to meet people outside of my everyday bubble. Like to travel. Have very, very little cash but a ton of somewhat handy skills. I can cook, clean, sew, listen, paint, philosophize, etc. Want to help out where I can. Happy to trade what I know/can do for a temporary roof over my head.

Interests

I'm a horrible dork for movies, books, zombies, fairy tales, small furry animals (specifically cats), art, doodling, psychology, philosophy, educational reform, music, food (!), cooking, and people (most likely including you).

..Updating this profile all this time later and I have not significantly changed. I guess I got tired of zombies and, to some extent, philosophy. Otherwise, this held up pretty well.

Music, Movies, and Books

....I like anything with a good beat or a good story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dunno about me, but I have met a guy who built a robot that looked and kinda talked like Philip K Dick (scifi author) and another guy who helped develop an actually useful treatment for Parkinson's. Cognitive science is dope.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hm, my current favorite thing to teach is watercolor. I carry around paint everywhere anyway. I teach research methods, intro to psychology, and cognitive psychology for a living. I used to be a printmaker, so I know a bunch of ways to put words/images onto stuff in mass (useful if you've ever wanted to say something loudly but without speaking).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Art, conversation, snacks, household chores.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Italy, United States
