À propos de moi

I work for a startup that’s making the world a more fun place. I spend my days thinking deeply about why we play. I enjoy the thrill of solving hard problems - and of knowing that I help millions of people laugh, play and enjoy their lives better.

I practice Improv 10+ hours a week. I relish the excitement of stepping out for a scene with no script or plan whatsoever about what I’m going to do in the next 5 seconds - knowing in my bones that no matter what happens, I’ll get it handled. In so many ways, the exhilaration of Improv is a metaphor for how I've always embraced uncertainty in my life.

I’m grateful to have amazing friends whom I absolutely adore and celebrate. I host soirees, brunches and dinners for my friends. We laugh, sip wine and spend relaxed evenings in languid conversation. These unhurried evenings often feel like they belong to a slower, less frenetic age. I'm the happiest guy around when the company is good.

I used to be a travel writer in a past life. I once traveled by trains across America for 15 days. The sights of sunrises, sunsets and starry nights from the glass tops of Amtrak observation cars are still a blissful stretch of time in my mind.

On another ride in another world, I came face-to-face with an angry elephant in a jungle. I had my wits scared out of me. I escaped unscathed. My car didn't. My insurance agent was amused.

At another time, I ran a startup in a small seaside town. I would stroll across rocky beaches in the late afternoon when the tide was going out, pick up odd little seashells, smell the ocean as the moon came up - and enjoy a long, sensuous dinner high above the crashing waves.

**
I live a life of gratitude and fascination. I’m in awe and wonderment of everything life has to offer, and I try to live a life that lets me experience as much as possible of what’s amazing about the world.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I hosted a ton a few years ago, when I lived in a small seaside town(Calicut, India). I quickly overcame the hesitation of having complete strangers in my house - and I grew to love getting to meet new people who taught me cool new stuff.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I read 50+ books every year. My favorite authors are Mario Vargas Llosa, Wodehouse, Joseph Conrad, Dostoevsky, Bill Bryson and Ray Bradbury. If you have books/bookstores in your pics, I will probably want to meet you.

I have a thing for poignant/thoughtful book titles. My favorites:
-> Such a long journey(Rohinton Mistry)
-> The unbearable lightness of being(Milan Kundera)
-> Tender is the night(F Scott Fitzgerald)
-> The wisdom of insecurity(Alan Watts)

I absolutely adore that masterpiece of fashion writing 'What The Well Dressed Man Is Wearing.' (bonus points if you get the reference here).

I haven't owned a TV for 10+ years now. I'd rather be out making my own adventures than watching other people have them on a flat screen.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

A couple of things, actually.

- A few bike rides across one half of India and back.
- A ten day train ride around India.
- 15 days on trains across America.
- First time in Europe, when I was in Switzerland and Germany a while ago. I realized how impossibly difficult it is to see everything there is. :)
- Living in NYC.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I can share about Improv, train travel, motorbike travel - and cool/interesting things to do in NYC.
