About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Understanding life, trying to live it well. Aligning my life with self-expression, caring and play. :)

ABOUT ME

20 mins north of Tokyo. Happy to host.

---

I've been in Japan since 2007.

Yesterday, I had a party on the flat roof of my house with friends. Cheese and bread, apple juice and fried rice. We talked about our plans for the future.
Honesty and openness. That's what life should be.

I joined couchsurfing to meet more varied kinds of people. I love life, and I think the most interesting people are those who travel and have had to change their mindset to live in a new country.

My website is here: http://www.jonwaller.net/

PHILOSOPHY

One of my hobbies is self-development and trying to get a handle on this "life" thing.

Currently, my theory on life is:
1) Happiness occurs when you express love.
2) The sources of happiness are self-esteem, playing and caring.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to make good friends. I want to get over my own fear of meeting random people, and learn how to connect with my fellow human beings better.

Outside of couchsurfing, I met one Japanese guy on the net who came to sleep in my room without me even having a picture of him. I very worried, but as you find with most people when you get to know them, he was awesome. He's now one of my best friends - I've known him for 6 years.

I would say I'm open minded, but I will try to bug people to stop smoking and I tend to get a bit annoyed if someone is complaining and not taking action to help themselves.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had lot of people sleep on my couch, and I used to be one of those people who talked to random people on the train.

I'm looking forward to meeting someone here.

Interests

Hi, I'm a happy, friendly guy living north of Tokyo. Some hobbies I can write about are... karaoke, picnics, Japanese and thinking about the meaning of life.

I spend my free time making web pages, meeting people though meetup.com or other online sites and finding new things to do.
I tried hula-hooping lessons and some wake boarding recently - I'll try anything.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Ok, I like some classics - Shawshank, Lost in Translation, Shrek, Kiki's Delivery Service. Be careful though, life's more interesting.
I know more Japanese music than western. Pendulum is awesome, but no-one seems to agree with me.
I enjoy self help books and children's books in Japanese.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw a mother slap her baby once, I've never been more angry in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Japanese:

Konnichiwa = Hello.
Arigatou = Thank you.

If you're unhappy, maybe it's because you're not getting enough sleep or because you don't feel in control of your own life.
