About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding and establishing at least one good friendship in each country in the world, with the prospect to exchange visits

ABOUT ME

Update [Dec, 2013]
Well, it's time to slightly change my profile...; although there are not many things about my job and everyday life that changed.
I am still looking for great travel opportunities, and I will try to built my own CS network...; during all these years I learned to cook better, to be better listener, and to be less attached to my own ideas and plans. I live more relaxed life.

[2009]
I am currently working at the University of Zagreb where I teach students in some complicated stuff which link molecular biology and horticulture¦ I am scientist with entrepreneurial soul. My goal is connecting both, science and business, in order to help creating better world and better society.
However, my work is not whole my life..., I am a sort of hedonist by nature. I enjoy good cuisine, fine places to eat, and quiet bars to meet and talk with my friends. I do not smoke, but I enjoy fine cigars from time to time. I love cooking too, and it proved to be the best relaxation after stressful week. When traveling, I rarely go to museums except those of painting arts. I rather learn about people and the way they live their everyday lives. I love visiting places off the beaten tracks, those that are not subject to aggressive tourist marketing and spots which are not sociologically and economically changed by phenomenon called tourism. I love to see places and meet people as they are. I am an extremely curious person.

I do not preach my religious or political beliefs, neither strongly promote my personal lifestyle. I have friends among political leftist and political rightist, among religious and atheists, among blacks and whites. I live and I let live!!! I avoid preachers who force any promotion of religious, sectarian or political nature, and whose lives are limited to religious or sectarian issues.

I am living in the broader circle of Zagreb in Croatia, with my girlfriend, in our own apartment, in a quiet neighbourhood. I have a spare room to host one or two travelers. I am happy to be a CS member.

PHILOSOPHY

To learn, to change myself, and to dare. Enjoying the path of my life. Living real life not spilled by mainstream media, temporary fashion and general opinion.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just started to build my own network of CS friends within the global CS network. I am traveling the world and I am helping world travelers.
I can help people coming to Zagreb and Croatia by logistics, picking them at the airport, bus or train station, showing them the city, taking them around to some places they cannot find in travel guides, offering them couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My goal is establishing at least one friendship in every single country in the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: ''The Godfather'' [1972, 1974, 1990], ''Twelve O'Clock High'' [1949], ''Casualties of War'' [1989] ..., spanish and french cinematography. Generally, I do not like patetic hollywood commercial crap... One of the best movies I know is old Croatian movie ''H8'' [1958]

Music: funk [Groover Washington, Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield]; smooth jazz [Jazzamor, Azymuth, Roy Ayers]; metal [Metallica, Tarja Turunen, Nightwish, Led Zeppelin]; afrobeat and African music [Fela Kuti, Femi Kuti, Tony Allen, Manu Dibango, Salif Keita], reggae [Dezarie, Alpha Blondy]

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two persons and a car, 168 hours in one week, 19383 kilometers passed at the end of the 7th day.
My lady and me managed to conquere the car (Toyota Corolla) in competition of 10 couples. The goal was to drive and pass the mileage as longest as possible in seven days. It was all around and around Croatian highways. I slept on the back seat when she was driving, she slept when I was driving. It was sponsored by national oil company, Toyota dealership in Croatia, and an auto-moto weekly.

There are more things I was doing and I saw, dangerous things and craza ventures..., let's meet for a coffee or beer, and talk about that.
