About Me

Friendly, loves to laugh, can be intense with communication because I want to get to the real stuff. I much prefer a few close friends whom I love than many surface-level friends.

I started as a software developer for 20-some years, and now I'm a life coach. I would describe myself as being on a spiritual path, but as a tantric that means loving and embracing everything that life has to offer. So I don't drink much anymore, but enjoy a bit of something once in awhile. Oh, and I looovvvvve ecstatic dance!

Always allowing myself to grow and expand and love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Back when I lived in Austin, I used to host a bunch. Then I moved to NYC and sadly stopped (no room!) I now live in Montreal and have space to host. I enjoy meeting new people who have a lust for life,

I'm also planning a motorcycle trip down the Pacific Coast Highway and would love to meet people anywhere along the way.

Interests

It's cliche to say, but I love music, either going to see live performance or discovering new groups. And in general, I'm interested in just about everything, from staying in a city and going to museums by day or a club by night, as well as relaxing in the country, reading a book.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Matrix and anything in any type of media which encourages me to expand my mind. For this The Matrix was absolutely mind-blowing, and the more years I gain, the more I see this as providing a glimpse of the truth. Inception is another like that. Philip K. Dick books (although much of the writing is meh)

I love to read the classics as well. Great Expectations was my favourite I think. Ulysses was HARD, but I'm glad I completed it. From Remembrance of Times Lost (Marcel Proust) I learned how to concentrate on staying in the present and noticing when my mind drifts.

I read lots of spiritual books too. Right now blown away by Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth, and really love Krishnamurti as well. The Tao Te Ching and Bhagavad-Gita have such wisdom.

Music? I'm bouncing my head right now to the new Chemical Brothers album. So happy dance music, trip hop, electro-pop, melodic metal (Queens of the Stone Age I love), French pop (Camille is absolutely lovely). I have a wide selection of music taste and I love hearing new stuff. But I'm fussy and would rather listen to something that I know on repeat than relentlessly search for new things. This I think is called maturity. Also The Beatles > The Stones ❤️

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a month in Cameroon doing volunteer work where my only shower was dumping a bucket of water on my head and where kids daily would point at me and yell "white man white man!"

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not even sure where to begin here. My interests are wide and varied. If you appreciate authenticity, like to laugh but don't use jokes to separate from others, I'm sure we would love heaps to teach, learn, and share :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Life coaching! I can discuss anything with you, give you my undivided attention and unconditional positive regard (i.e. support without conditions), and provide some suggestions if you want. I'm good at this.
