About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding a physical location and coworkers for a new collective!

ABOUT ME

I am interested in collaborative projects and ventures. I have a wide variety of hobbies and talents, which I like to employ for big projects. I'm experienced in group dynamics and logistics. I love cooking and have been known to cook for entire neighborhoods and gatherings of folks. I like hackerspaces and collectives a lot- so much that I attempt to join/start them wherever I go. I like to talk about current events, politics, technology, and my very skewed view of the world in general. I know how to make soap, turn photographs into illustrated comics, diagnose (and sometimes fix) a fair number of vehicle problems, refurbish electronics, operate a foundry, drive a manual box truck, and a whole ton of odd things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed (through couchsurfing.org and otherwise) on numerous occasions and I'm always surprised at the generosity and trust shown to me and my companions while surfing in someone's home.

I ran a collective in Atlanta for two years and hosted a TON of people. Many of them were not found through this website, but when I have a couch, it's always open to visitors. Some people who stayed with us even went on to become permanent residents.

Music, Movies, and Books

All things Palahniuck, Anything Vonnegut, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, 100 Years of Solitude, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, anything by Murakami, Camus, Lost in Translation, Brazil, Waking Life, Trainspotting, The Royal Tennenbaums, I Heart Huckabees, The Decemberists, Iron and Wine, Tom Waits, The New Pornographers, Sufjan Stevens, Devendra Barnhart, Regina Spektor, Joanna Newsom, The National, Hot Chip, Devo, Radiohead.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the largest projects I've been recently involved with entailed the managing of a guerilla kitchen that fed a hundred people 6 times a week for a few months. From the purchasing of supplies to the choosing of recipes and oversight of volunteers to delivery of the finished product, I participated in it all. Mmm, kitchen logistics!

I even more recently helped direct a group of folks putting labor into electronic recycling and surplus distribution. Lots of climbing on dangerous piles of plastics and tvs, there! We are the computer janitors.

In Atlanta, I ran a collective that housed scientists, DIYers, waiters, college kids, burners, rappers, people who wandered in off the streets, and other ne'er do wells. I'm looking to do it again soon, somewhere that isn't Atlanta.
