About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Add some wood on the fire. Reach the secret heart of mystery. Find good friends and unusual connections!

ABOUT ME

I am a lifetime traveler born in a family of diplomats, rebels and exiles (both sides of the family!). I was born in Ecuador but lived around the world since I was a child, and I never stopped and never looked back. Since I was young I've been a political activists in many fights, from protecting my home rainforests from Chinese mining to worldwide internet hacktivism. My main job for the last years has been running an NGO I created. We help investigative journalists around the world (Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Spain, Iceland) receive and publish public interest information. We've blown the lid on several cases of corruption, human rights abuse, environmental violation, political espionage, you name it! Transparency for institutions, privacy for the rest of us!

Now I'm based in Berlin, where I am learning to make experimental films (I won't stop talking about my latest one, looking for input) and making history everyday!

I am always looking for kicks and laughs in the good old South American way!

PS: I'm also nice, I cook and clean and am in general an enthusiast.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life to the fullest and bask in the glory of being able to understand the Universe! If anyone comes up to you in this dream-like rollercoaster ride we call life and asks you, "how's life?" You say, I don't know, I've nothing else to compare it to. <3

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It is one of the most spiritually rewarding activities I have participated in. Only good has come of it for me, both hosting and surfing. Although it is now a money making enterprise, it is still cracking a hole in the shell of capitalism for us to fit through!

Interests

I am an interest humming bird, an interest whore. The latest one is stealing books for my growing library, but I also am an occasional vagabond, I talk with anyone I can find, interviewing strangers with an invisible mic, singing high chest C's, drinking beer slowly but steadily, making up wise and old-sounding aphorisms that sound best when drunk. Dead gods. Hosting parties. Crashing parties. Taking the hard way. Social engineering. Piracy. Ontological anarchism. Quantum mechanics. Anything groovy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Haneke, Lynch, Wong Kar Wai.

Current literary favorites are: Mark Z. Danielewski (for House of Leaves), Charles Baudelaire, William Shakespeare; Max Weber, Theodore Adorno and Jurgen Habermas; Jorge Luis Borges, Charles Bukowski, Cormac Mcarthy, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Kerouac, Julio Cortazar, Herman Hesse, Mijail Bulgakov, Heraclitus and the Sophists, Roberto Bolaño...

Music: James Blake, Fats Domino, Animal Collective, Charlie Parker, FKA Twigs and Stravinsky, Deerhunter, Cartola, Nina Simone, Flying Lotus and John Coltrane, the great Boban Markovic, Led Zeppelin, Chico Buarque, Carlos Gardel, Tim & Jeff Buckley. Roots cumbia and salsa are my long lost love!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

High altitude Andean rodeo with semi wild bulls and moonshine drinking 7 days straight shit can't be made up.

Crossing the Amazon rainforest hitchhiking cargo boats with a hammock, from the Andes to the Atlantic.

But even so, everyday is full of wonder!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot of random skills and people tell me I'm a good teacher. I can offer chess, juggling, singing and basic music theory, salsa, any language I know that you don't, comparative religion, Ludwig Wittgenstein. Photography!

I am thirsty for learning and I always will be. Fuck complacency and comfort zones.

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Ghana, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Senegal, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Tunisia, United Kingdom, Uruguay
